8-Ball Option for Die Roller

I would like to propose a Magic 8-Ball Option for the die roller.  There are 20 possible results, and while it's possible to match a d20 vs. the result list, it'd be great if the die roller could produce the actual 8-Ball results. :-)

The twenty standard results are:
  • As I see it, yes.
  • It is certain.
  • It is decidedly so.
  • Most likely.
  • Outlook good.
  • Signs point to yes.
  • Without a doubt.
  • Yes.
  • Yes - definitely.
  • You may rely on it.
  • Reply hazy, try again.
  • Ask again later.
  • Better not tell you now.
  • Cannot predict now.
  • Concentrate and ask again.
  • Don't count on it.
  • My reply is no.
  • My sources say no.
  • Outlook not so good.
  • Very doubtful.

It'd be helpful to games that want to use some random outcomes without all that ugliness associated with hard numbers. :-)

+1 from me.  :)

Useful for those occasions when you need to ask somebody, "Should I brutally slaughter the entire party?"

I like that -- it'd be fun.  The list does seem biased towards "yes" answers, though.

What, no amazingly complex system?  How disappointing.

And by "disappointing" I mean "thank christ for that!".  Took me 10 minutes to code in.  (c;

+1 too, though I feel one of the yes answers should be scraped for a definitive "No."

Re: 8-Ball Option for Die Roller

Well that wouldn't really be a Magic 8-Ball roller then, would it?  I really prefer keeping the original 8-Ball options as used in 1946.

Re: 8-Ball Option for Die Roller

Oh, were those the original answers? I've never seen an 8 ball made before 76 so I was unaware of that. Objection withdrawn.

Re: 8-Ball Option for Die Roller

Maybe we could add the Affirmation Ball ("You look marvelous!", "Have you lost weight?") and the Sarcastic Ball ("Do I look like I care?", "Get a clue.") options if we had a resource for all 20 of each.  :D

Re: 8-Ball Option for Die Roller

It must be programmed in the sandbox testing environment that jase has on his computer -- it's not in the beta dice engine yet.

Re: 8-Ball Option for Die Roller

Even if it was an April Fools prank, it still has my vote to actually be implemented. :)  I also agree with the idea that one "yes" result should be changed to a "no" result.

I hope it isn't an April Fools' joke.  That would mean I have to stick with my current method of making important decisions - asking the cat.

While cats are often wonderful sources of advice (even if every third suggestion does involve eating someone), I still think this is a great idea! :P

Yea that is a great Idea, we could base this one off the d12,

1: Eat a PC
2: Eat an NPC
3: Eat some famous person.
4: Eat a mouse.
5: Meow
6: Hisss
7: Obey me human!
8: I said wet food for dinner!
9: Ffittt
10: For once you have a good idea.
11: The litter box wont clean itself.
12: Are you just pretending to be stupid?
