Just a thought to reduce the size of the sidebar which might help with need to scroll menus on a mobile ...

I've noticed I rarely use any of the options under the Your Account section in the sidebar.  If that's true of most/all, then would it be desireable to move them to a subscreen, linked from the top menu.  Means one extra click to access those options, but saves some real estate.

IE have a new top menu item Account which links to a sub-screen with the current menu choices (unless drop down menus are possible in the current setup).

Except perhaps for Start a Game - that could sit under Main Menu section in the sidebar instead - it doesn't need to be on every forum/game I go into ... if I want to start a new game it seems logical to navigate to the Main Menu first, since that's where the new game would appear once created.

I'm not sure if maybe I'm misreading because I'm only on my first cup of coffee, Skald, but I feel like that's what I currently see when I'm on my mobile...

There's a pair of square blocks (or a trio, if I'm in a thread/on the main page) at the righthand end of my top nav bar, colored in the colors of my 'This Thread/Main Menu', 'This Forum/This Game' and 'Your Account (Start a Game is here, when on the main page)' menus, that if I click, expand those menus down.

On mobile, the menus don't show unless I expand their drop-downs. There is no righthand sidebar.

I'm on a PC ... sounds like I want mobile menus on desktop then !  :>

I'll admit that from a visual standpoint, I quite like having the side bar on the desktop...but then, real estate isn't an issue for me. The browser window is already way larger than the text portion of RPoL as it is. I'm not sure that moving the sidebar options to the top on desktop wouldn't just create more empty space instead of what (for me at least) is a nice little color balance.

But! I'm always game for more OPTIONs to have things on top or on the side, if possible! =)

I prefer to have only the relevant stuff one click away in the sidebar ... which would be the Main Menu specific stuff on the front screen and the GM menu (for GMs only, obviously) and game/forum menu in (you guessed it) the game/forum.

To me account stuff doesn't sit with that - IMNSHO those links should be on the top bar, preferably as a drop down, but on a subscreen if it comes to it ... but that's my mileage, others may like that those links are handy, or, as you say, for the aesthetics.   :>

If it was changed, it would have to NOT be to the detriment of a significant portion of the userbase.

And I'll edit the thread title to specify desktop to clarify.  :>
