Sorry Frank I messed up.

The drum is for a 7.62mmS chambered weapon. There isn't any 5.45mmB drums available in the timeframe of the game (besides some prototypes that never got into mass production at the time).

I edited msg #641

In reply to Luis Ortega (msg #903):

Same.

No problem at all

I think that it's worth keeping that drum mag and trading for the other one as there is a distinct possibility that we'll end up shifting across to Pact weapons at some point and having a couple of drum mags for an RPK would be great.  I know that we don't have an RPK at present but that's probably easier to find than the drum mags! <G>

Fuse - I don't know if you want to play through it in detail but if there is anything else on the island that is worth trading for besides the one spare drum mag then Ortega will try to organise a trade for some of the gear we've taken off the ship.  There was a mention at one point of pickled food and Ortega is particularly interested in "buying" any form of preserved food as well as ammo and other military gear.

It might be simplest/quickest to do this OOC.  What do you think?

Thanks.

As briefly mentioned to Crack and Frank, there is little in the way of an open arms trade in town. Most military hardware is traded exclusively for the militia. Since the islanders have an isolationist policy, usually only allowing a select few merchants access, there isn't the need to keep military gear stored. Even ammo will be in short supply.

If you want to trade for military hardware you'll need to go to Gdansk, the trading hub of northern Poland.

There is fresh and preserved food though. Sobieszewo has very little industry, and what little does exist is focused on the fishery - so most people are employed in agriculture.

I'm planning on moving at the player's speed. If there is interest in interacting with the locals then I will game that out, but if people seem inactive, I'll just skip the time ahead to something more engaging. Player input will help me out on this decision.

In reply to Fusilier (msg #921):

Fuse - thanks for this.  Do you need us to work out what we can already have removed/salvaged from the boat?  Or is it ok to leave that vague for the moment?

Also please can you give us some more details of the food that was on-board in terms of fresh/preserved and number of man days.  Are the islanders feeding us by the way?

With regards to trading how much preserved food is there on the island that they are willing to sell to us?  Lastly in terms of ammo I was really just wondering if they had any 5.56mmN, 5.45mmB or 7.62mmS rounds that they might be able to trade to us.  I'm guessing that it's a no for the last two as that will probably be saved for the militia but they might have a few 5.56mmN rounds.  If they don't then no problem.

One piece of logic is that as they were selling 40mmS rounds then they don't have any Pact Grenade Launchers.  This is only relevant if we have trouble leaving the island! <G>

Either is ok.

I will asap. Any PCs who raided the galley (Caleb) would already know that it isn't enough to feed all of the men who were at Hel... probably just the ship's crew.

The Islanders are feeding you yes. Part of the agreement between them and Gdansk.

Food is plentiful enough that you might get a few days worth in trade. For the game, I have this part of Poland rather well off compared to the devastated regions in the interior. If you take up Wright's mission to Silesia, the pressures of keeping you fed will be harder - but until then, you are lucky.

NATO ammo is easier and cheaper to trade for but the problem is there is just so little of it lying around. As Billy saw, that particular merchant had only 53 7.62mm rounds in stock - not even 3 mags worth.

I don't want to reveal info that the PCs wouldn't know, but they haven't seen any (if at all) grenade launchers. That doesn't mean there isn't any, but your guess makes sense.

So, do you want Frank to get the drum for the AKM?  If the Flashlight he has on his AK-74 will fit on the AKM, he trade for one of those too.

Someone said they had another drum mag?  That would free up the [6] AK mags frank has and would just need to get AKM mags now, just sayin'...

Re: OOC Thread 8

We don't have any AKM type weapons that I saw in our inventory right now.  If people are good with it, I'll trade up the AK-74 (without the flashlight!) and [1] empty magazine for an AKM as long as I can mount the f/l to it.  And I'll buy the drum he has nthere nand use the one that Varis has, if he's pk with it?

I'll put the rest of the AK mags & ammo back into our inventory and draw out 150 rounds (from our 425) to fill the both drums.  If we're going to be mostly switching to PACT weapons, and I already did, this combo works for me right now.  I will want some stick mags in the near future though...

Re: OOC Thread 8

I'm just waiting on a reply from a few certain PCs before I skip the game ahead. I was thinking of shooting ahead 48 hours to when the munitions have been uncovered and need to be transported back to Gdansk. Following the delivery, the group will be free to take the game off in another direction (far from here).

Or would you prefer a shorter fast-forward to get more RP'ing in the town?

Please advise.

Billy 'Crack' O'Brien :
Available to the group:
40mmS HE grenades x4
40mmS ILLUM grenades x1
40mmS SMK grenades x1

I moved this to the inventory - just to centralize the available supplies.
