Solo Game But Not Really

What I'm looking for:

  • A game with 2-3 players, each mostly solo, though occasionally their stories intertwine and they have a team-up event where they tackle a common problem. Like how in old comics each character had a solo title but occasionally they would join forces or fight each other or whatever, and then at the end of the crossover they'd go their separate ways again.
  • Character driven and sandboxy; Protagonists have their personal goals they're pursuing, and occasionally plot hooks will pop up that they can choose to take advantage of to either improve their situation, pursue their goals, or forestall trouble further down the line; ideally some of these hooks should be mutually exclusive meaning that pursuit of one means giving up another.
  • PCs do not need to be of equivalent power levels.
  • Characters should be relatively inexperienced in a "zero to hero" sort of arc.
  • Downtime should matter, what the characters do between adventures, even if a lot of time isn't spent on it. Jobs, careers, relationships, ambitions.
  • Genres: Superheroes, Monster Hunters/Occult Investigators/Paranormal Researchers, Postapocalyptic Wanderers, Cyberpunk operatives/Shadowrunners/mercenaries, Fantasy adventuers/traders/explorers, Sci Fi mercenaries/merchants/space pirates
  • Systems: Fate, GURPS 4e, World of Darkness

Solo Game But Not Really

I am considering a game like this but won't have bandwidth until next year.  If you don't get a response by then, please bump.

Potentially I can offer: Fate, science fiction in a corner of a pre-established homebrew off-Earth setting (perhaps with hints of cyberpunk or post-apocalypse). Would work for mercenaries, merchants or similar. Posting rate would be daily or every other day

Let me know what else you need to know to confirm interest

Hm...how flexible are you on systems for a game like this?

Anyone’s else interested in playing? So I can handle the “But Not Really” part? CaesarCV? lordethanrod?

I'm a huge fan of Ashen Stars, the gritty space opera setting created by Robin Laws for Gumshoe, and have wanted to port it over to another system for years. FATE was one of the systems I considered, a second was OpenD6. There were others as well, which for sake of brevity I shan't go into. For an overview of the setting, surf over to "All The Justice Credits Can Buy" at http://site.pelgranepress.com/...ice-credits-can-buy/ and let me know if it interests you.

Solo Game But Not Really

Hi there.
I'm pretty interested in a project like this.

I would run it in SWN, and it would be mechanics lite, with main focus on moving forward, not bogged down in number crunching or simulationism...

Setting wise, would be Sci Fi, loosely to moderately based on Saga of the Seven Suns, by Kevin J Anderson
