The wandering hero

After a long absence I'm looking for a GM interested in running a solo game (though one other player might be fun too). The basic premise is that of the hero on a long journey visiting various towns, villages, ruins, traveling merchants, mysterious wild spots etc and interacting with the people (or not-people) he encounters.

While I am definitely open to discuss most things, I see the focus of the game being less on endless combat and more on roleplaying and storytelling. Each location would probably present one or two (optional) issues for him the deal with, from the rather mundane (deliver a letter he has been carrying) to the more fantastic (a quick dungeon crawl). Or I might have some other idea of my own for the GM to riff off of.
I'm thinking mostly some sort of low-fantasy setting, but post apoc might work too.

I'd like the game to be rated mature or adult. While smut is not the point here, I certainly don't mind a bit if it fits the story and everyone is comfortable with it.

For something like this I'd be happy to go very rules light or freeform.
I am often an irregular poster, I have troubles keeping up with fast-paced games.

EDIT: Please feel free to reply by rMail.

This sounds like something that would be right up my alley. I would likely opt to use a rules-lite d20-based system like The Black Hack or Microlite20, so I could easily use all of my D&D/d20 material but without you feeling overburdened with rules. The posting pace would be whenever you were available to respond.

As far as settings go, I have a few possibilities:
  • Calradia, a medieval pseudo-Europe low-fantasy setting adapted from the game Mount & Blade: Warband
  • Amerarkana, a homebrew apocalytpic-folk fantasy setting in an ecologically-ravaged America where magic has returned
  • Midgard, the Kobold Press fantasy setting inspired by Eastern European mythology
  • The Old World, the grim and perilous medieval pseudo-Europe of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I, too, would be interested in GMing something like this.

As an alternative being that second player mentioned as a possibility.

Jarulf, If your first offer falls through with Muledonkey let me know.

Or if the two of you decide an additional player would be good to help riff off of and spice things up, possibly having a female around as a counterbalance...?

I would probably use Harn as my low fantasy setting as its gritty and feudal and comes with tons of those little human interest story hooks your seeking for roleplay at every location detailed for us already to jump into and run with.  I could rules lite up the system  for play by post.  Thanks for hearing me out,

I've had several replies to this now, offering to GM and I'm sure one of them will work out fine. Thank you all :-)
