City State of the Invincible OverLord.

Just curious, would there be a GM out there, that would be willing to run a game based in and around the City State? Solo or Group,is fine with me. Perhaps use one of the Old School rules sets.

 Thanks

City State of the Invincible OverLord.

It's a setting I'm interested in and own but I've never more than glanced at it. I'm also a little busy for a while, it being November and all. But come December I can stick my nose in the books and take a good long sniff.

Which of the OSR engines would you be interested in playing with?

Oh I'm a GM with over 34 years of experience, starting with the original red box Basic set back in October of 1983. I've run and played in tabletop games from across the wide spectrum of styles and fads but I find myself being brought back again and again to the OSR systems.

I've not run anything on RPoL before so this shall be something of a learning curve for me, if you're interested in me picking up the torch for you and wouldn't prefer someone a bit more familiar with the format.

City State of the Invincible OverLord.

 Greetings,
I am surprised, pleasantly so, but surprised. When I made that GM wanted, for the City State, I really didn’t expect a response, let alone one so quickly.

I have been rping since 1979, yes, I am an old fart. Many systems, AD&D, Traveller, Rune Quest, Chivalry and Sorcery, just to name a few. And oh, yes, FGU Flashing Blades, my all-time favorite.

As in regards to your lack of experience with RPOL, my response to that is….So what? Your credentials as a GM and the story we can spin is what interests me. Ergo, my growing fondness for the old school rping systems. Today, it is more about special effects, then the meant of the story.

The only copy of OSRIC that I have is the original, which is fine by me, unless you can direct me to a free updated version.

Take your time, and when you are ready to stick your GM toe into the RPOL pond, I will be waiting.

Thank you for responding to my add, and thank you for offering to GM

City State of the Invincible OverLord.

What about AD&D 2nd Edition? though I'm not as experienced as you two, i have the core rulebooks dusting on my shelf for nearly 10 years but i never got a chance to actually play the game. I'm not confident enough to DM a game but would love to play as a player.

City State of the Invincible OverLord.

The OSRIC pdf appears to be freely available from http://www.knights-n-knaves.com/osric/

Almost all my AD&D 2e books are lost/in storage. Skimming through OSRIC I really don't see much of a difference between it and AD&D 1e.

Which parts of 2e appeal to you DiegoD89? Beyond the proximity of the rule books?

The original CSIO expects psionics and other features from 1e. But I have a couple of different optional psionics rules for OSRIC so I'll see which one of those is closest to the feel I'd want.

THACO, hahaha. i always was thrilled by how combat worked in 2nd edition.

But honestly, is just that i have the books close by and never got a chance to play with them.

Re: City State of the Invincible OverLord.

I have no problem with using THAC0. It's just the AC0 column on the To-Hit tables after all and the maths is basic.

Now had you said Non-Weapon-Proficiencies there might have been a problem. ;)

I was going to mention that and the skills, but since they were optional in the 2nd edition i left them out.

Anyway, as long i can use the books i have without needing to use an external source, like the pdf you linked, i would be glad to have a chance to play.

I have to put my books to good use after all lol.

I'm going to be running OSRIC but I'm sure I can FLAILSNAILS it a bit. So yeah, no problem.

Re: City State of the Invincible OverLord.

Okay. I have the framework of the game set up. My only question currently is, Mature of Adult?

Never mind. I'm going with Adult as CSIO is gonzo and metal enough to warrant it.
