Wanted: GM willing to help me learn the ropes

Hi!

I've been interested in tabletop RPGs for a few years now, but haven't had the chance to try any out. When I found this website, I was very excited! I thought this would be a good place to learn about and experience them.

If you're willing to lend me a hand and help me do so, I'd be very grateful!

I'm a quick and eager learner.

Any systems or settings you're particularly interested in? RPGs can run the gamut from dead simple to mind-bogglingly complex. :)

Having not played before, I think it would be best to start with something simpler. :) Perhaps not quite dead simple, though, because I do enjoy a challenge.

As for systems and settings--
My interest in these kinds of games started when I learned about D&D, so it would be cool to learn that (whatever version is preferred by the GM). However, I'm also interested in contemporary and 20 minutes into the future settings.

All in all, though, I'm open to just about anything!

If you guys want something easy can I recommend FASERIP? It's pretty simple in terms of rules and very new-player friendly. It's also very flexible so you can run almost any kind of setting you can imagine, from high fantasy with elves, to superheroes, to hard science fiction set in the future.

As long as what you really want is a teaching game, and not a deep, involved plotline with amazingly crafted battle maps and such, I could run something.

I am willing to run an introductory game for one of the following systems;

Complexity graded from 1 (low) to high (10)
Pathfinder [Technical, complicated but lots of character options] - Complexity 10
Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition [Solid entry-level game] - Compelxity 3
Star Wars: Saga Edition [It's an older code, but it checks out - ] - Complexity 6
MAID [Very silly] - Complexity 2

In reply to Furyou Miko (msg # 6):

(Sorry for the late reply! I was suddenly very busy for several weeks but I'm better now! :p )

I'd love to try D&D 5E. Yesterday, I downloaded a pdf of the D&D Player's Handbook and ended up starting a rough character design. It's been really fun making the character and I'm excited to try to do something with her!

Thank you for your help so far and for being willing to run a teaching game!

(And thank you to the rest of you who have offered suggestions and advice so far too!)

In reply to persnicketypeahen (msg # 7):

I myself learned D&D as an adult (back in the 2e days), and am grateful to the folks who took the time to teach me the game. I enjoy helping to pay it forward, and gaming with newbies.

In short, I'd love to play in a teaching-oriented, newbie-friendly 5e game, if it gets up and rolling. :)
