Keep on the Shadowfell Request
I have never finished this module and am looking for a DM willing to help me do so and maybe go beyond it. I prefer to use Essentials rules but am willing to accept whatever the DM wants. Also would not mind character themes and backgrounds.

I'm in a version of that game that just started up not too long ago. I can ask the GM if there's room for one more?

Would you be interested in 3.5 or Pathfinder for the adventure. I owned it but I never took to the system.

Keep on the Shadowfell Request
I just scanned back through the adventure. I thought I had played all the way through it, but there's stuff in there I don't recall ever dealing with. I could think about running it, though I wouldn't have a lot of time to devote to it, and less in the fall.

I should mention that I don't use maps. I've found that, especially over play-by-post, description works find, and reduces time spent figuring out positioning and the like.

I don't argue rules and I don't require players to ask me for permission. In fact, I prefer that they don't, so that time posting is spent on moving the game forward. If a person thinks something works a certain way, then that's fine with me.

I probably wouldn't follow the module exactly, preferring to solicit thoughts from the players on how things might proceed in an interesting way. If the module isn't offering interesting challenges, then I'd want to add in other things that the players are interesting in. To that end, I also don't hide information from the players. Relying on cheap surprises and obvious secrets (which are all I or most modules can offer) has never worked well for me.

So, no promises, but I'm tentatively interested.

For what it's worth, I'd love to play this. If in about six months there's no GM, I might GM it myself.

Keep on the Shadowfell Request
One of my games may be winding down. If so, I'd be willing to run this in its place. As I've played this adventure or parts of it several times, I'd prefer, if possible, to do something new with it. I'd keep the overall structure and encounters, but I'd want to place it in Eberron, possibly contained entirely within the city of Sharn. An Eberron conversion exists (and was apparently published at the same time as the adventure, before any books had even been released), though it recommends setting it in Karrnath, which would be feasible, just not quite as interestingly different.

I would have no problem with the Eberron setting though I am very unfamiliar with it and may need your help in that.

In reply to onlie2004 (msg # 16):

Most of the particulars about Eberron wouldn't matter in a KotS run. The main thing is that Eberron is meant to be a tad darker and more intrigue oriented. In this adventure that means a few additional agendas among the NPCs and some slightly stranger creatures.

My main interest is running it inside Sharn, which has the potential to be a points-of-light setting within the points-of-light setting.

May I use Essentials characters and character themes and backgrounds?

Keep on the Shadowfell Request
In reply to onlie2004 (msg # 18):

I've never understood the difference between Essentials and any other characters, so yes, those would be fine with me.

I'd want to stick with Eberron backgrounds, but I'd give anyone an extra class skill or a +2 bonus to one skill, if they felt the need, no background required.

If I ran this, I wouldn't utilize themes or any Dragon material. I'd stick with the books I have access to and are relevant to the setting. The races and class from the Forgotten Realms Player's Guide, along with most of the items, feats and rituals are fine, and the races from the Dark Sun Campaign Setting are interesting enough that I'd be fine with them. Most other Dark Sun elements wouldn't see appropriate to me.
