D&D 3.5--I want to be your shopkeeper

Something I have wanted to try. I want to be an adventurer / shop owner / equipment manufacturer.

In my head I have the character starting out at level 1 as the adventurer with a dream so to speak.

I wouldn't so much care about a setting (I know very little about any), or a completely homebrew world.

I had actually pictured a pair of characters that were focused on making items, specializing in sells that could work for that

if this takes off let me know we could run the shop together, if you are into the idea

I wanted to play a shopkeeper, in a cut throat setting for a while. I had a GM but then they had some personal issues come up and had to step away.

I could get behind running something like this. You'd have to give me a week or so to get all of the shop-based systems all set up - since combat would be a lesser part of the game, would the pathfinder rule systems work, and would you allow a multi-player game (two or three) instead of a solo?

I guess I havn't done much with Pathfinder, but it seems a lot like D&D so I could adapt, and ask questions I am sure.

As far as the group vs solo, what if we each had our own shops, in different locations, but were friends who adventured together when the time arose? I also pictured being able to freely switch between the two, to hunt for ores or woods, slay the dragon for its hide and so forth.

That's similar to what I was picturing as well - friendly competition with one person running an alchemical store, another a butchery specializing in exotic meats, one a blacksmith....

I'm still working on getting it all set up and may post back here in a week or two.

I'd be good playing this as well, if you want. I really like more doing the shipping mogul. You need your goods going to market? No problem my wagons are available to help you for...a small  very reasonable, fee.

I may be willing  to do this and set the game in Sanctuary, the city of Thieve's World. I have all the D&D 3.5 books for it and we can even use the the rules out of the DMG II for running businesses. This way I see all of you knowing one another and you may adventure in the city or it's environs indiviually or together. Remember just crossing the city at night and some parts in the daytime can be an adventure in and of itself. Cheers

I have an opportunity

I need a player or players to run the merchants in my game.
And by merchants I do mean plural

I would list them all but there are quite a few.

I've been wanting to play an artificer, that would work quite well in owning a shop.

Artificers work well with more gold to spend, and artificers are good at making things for shops to make gold. lol

So stands to reason an artificer with a shop owner with some good social/management skills could make a lot of money.

Are you (anyone?) Willing to do Pathfinder instead of 3.5? Basic difference is that some skills got rolled together to make a more streamlined approach to Skill checks.

If you (anyone) is willing, send me an Rmail, and I will start set up immediately.
