Spiderverse Game

Taking inspiration from Spider-Man: Wed Warriors, I'd like to play in a game where the PCs are different Spider themed heroes/Avatars. The PCs are pulled together by Madam Webb and tasked with saving the multiverse. The original Spidey (Peter Parker 616) and Miles Morales, including all of their variations, are out of play ad its time for the 'lesser' spider heroes to take front stage.

I would probably be interested if it was a setting I knew
esp if I could modify it slightly, do you think it'd be ok to have one Scorpion based arachnid ?

I don't see any reason why not. It's also a multiverse game, so what ever world or worlds we went too wouldn't be the regular marvel universe so they could literally be anything.

It'd be up to the gm to have mission that go into many worlds or maybe a War world/Secret wars type game where we are all pulled into a single universe that is the cause of the problem (such as a universe were Mary Jane Watson is the Carnage Queen and she has taken over the world and is now using the Seige Perilous to send her Carnage minions throughout the multiverse)

What systems is everyone interested in? My to 2 are Marvel Heroic (cortex) or the old TSR marvel game from the 80s.

You can adapt MnM builds to FASERIP, which was originally released by the company that put out the classic AD & D line. :-)  The handbooks are free online if you look for "Classic Marvel Superheroes RPG".

Yes, faserip.

Like smokin barrel said, all the books are free online.

It's a pretty simple mechanic: d100 and consult a table for everything.  Unlike Marvel heroic, the are no reaction rolls, so resolution is a lot quicker. Chargen might be a bit quicker than Marvel heroic, and we'd be able to get a bit more distinction between characters.

If I was going to GM, I'd favor faserip.

----

One more question, especially for original poster: would you want to restrict to canon characters, or allow originals. What about a mix?

All original, t least for PCs. As stated, the PCs are all different spider-themed (or in Gamer75's case scorpion-themed) heroes. Peter Parker and Miles Morales have been taken out so they are pulling from the Z-team. (B-team all the way to Y-team has been taken out)

The PCs would literally be the world(s) last chance, the hero version of a Hail Mary Pass.

I have to say Faserip has some fairly glaring problems
not enough to keep it from being enjoyable but the fact is if the target has too high Body Armor all you are going to do is look at it and ask it to go away...
at least that is my memory of it I have not played in years
balance to tho is screwy

@Gamer75: I agree, body armor is a balance issue. FWIW, Marvel Heroic has a similar problem with the analog. Easy enough to house rule it and the other places where FASERIP doesn't work.

I've set up a site:
