Wanted: A GM for weird, "Indie," mostly narrative games

I'm a little nervous about this, as most of the games I searched for on joining RPOL didn't even show up as existing in the list...Like, it had "Mouse Guard" but many of the others didn't show up as "suggestions" at all, or even in inactive games.

Firstly: Paul Czege's game "The Clay that Woke." I've had a copy since the kickstarter, it seems like the Krater could quite easily be handled via die-rolling to see what tokens are picked, but I've never found another entity interested in playing.

Secondly: Ron Edwards' (of "Apocalypse World" fame) fantasy game "Trollbabe."

Thirdly: ...And speaking of AW, I'd love to actually play a game of its release reformat for 2d Ed., "Fallen Empires" which uses the AW core in a (very) dark fantasy setting.

...And if no GMs are interested in any of these more outre' games, maybe I could interest someone in Ironclaw? I'd love to be part of a small game (perhaps 2-3 players) focusing on political intrigue and urban swashbuckling. Somewhere in the muddy interzone between the flamboyantly naive heroics of D'Artagnan, some sort of Renaissance spy ring, and the fantasy criminal underworld a la Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos.

I'm also a fan of those indie games. I wish I'd picked up more of those. I think i only have AW 2e (but not Fallen Empires).

I have a general interest in indie games, particularly freebie ones, but I’m not familiar with any of those. I looked up Ironclaw, since I’m also interested in swashbuckling, but the ‘anthropomorphic animals in a fantasy world’ setting put me off. We might find mutual interests somewhere though. Feel free to Rmail me if you want to discuss further.

Hi Steelsmiter,

In its current form, "Fallen Empires" is a publicly available free pdf which is a reskin of AW 2e that was released originally on the AW 2e kickstarter. If you google for it, you should find it as the top link.

It's a direct reskin of AW 2e (and, a little indirectly, 9 of the 11 primary classes in AW 1e...It drops the Operator, which 2e dropped in general, and the Driver).

I was a little disappointed to see the Driver go...It struck me that since the rules do include mounted combat, a re-skinned Driver'd be perfect for some kind of fantastic beast-rider class.

As for the Operator, well. I'm not convinced it deserved to be left out of AW 2e completely, but a lot of people didn't seem to sink their teeth into that class as best I can tell. So maybe that's a thing.

Anyway, the free pdf's there, and if you'd be interested maybe we can find a couple more?

Down as a player? Or as a gamemaster?

Player unfortunately. The free document was the playbooks, and very minimal actual rules. Honestly I'd rather get the core book before I GM.

I did like the Mass Combat stuff though.

In reply to steelsmiter (msg # 7):

The core book is just the AW2e corebook. Nothing else changes. That's why it's a 'reskin' of AW2e rather than a separate game.

I know Ironclaw and all of Sanguine Games stuff. Actually running their Urban Jungle system right now for 3 players and it is working wonderfully well on Rpol.

I would be down DMing an Ironclaw game. I have some ideas, and read all the extra adventure ideas and books, so I am familiar with Calabria.
