Keep on the Shadowfell Request

Is there anyone out there willing to run a Keep on the Shadowfell game set in the Forgottne Realms? I would like to use Essentials rules(HEROES OF THE FALLEN LANDS and HEROES OF THE FORGOTTEN KINGDOMS). Also I would like to use backgrounds and themes. Although I would be willing to go with what the DM wants if he or she is uncomfortable with them or simply does not have the books.

Keep on the Shadowfell Request

I'm tentatively interested. I wouldn't mind the use of Essentials, or backgrounds and themes, though the module is not particularly challenging and even moderately tricked-out characters would traipse right through it.

My approach:
I don't do maps. I have found that description works fine, even in combat.
I do my best to adhere to the rules in what I do as a GM, but I try not to bother correcting players, and I try to go along with what makes sense to then.
I usually like to collaborate on game details, rather than just spooling out pre-written information, whether it's mine or someone else's.

I'd want to have at least 3 players and no more than 5.

Edit: Please clarify what it would mean to you for the game to be set in the Forgotten Realms. I think there is advice available for setting the module there, but "Forgotten Realms" means different things to different people. Some really want the details of the setting (such as famous NPCs) to come into play, for example.

Keep on the Shadowfell Request

I would be interested in playing.  Give me a heads up via rMail right before you put the game up in 'Wanted Players' thread.

Keep on the Shadowfell Request

Perfectly fine by me though you might need to put up an ad on the Wanted Players forum if you decide to do this because I asked this on my own and currently have no others with me on this at the moment. :)

Part of the reason why I want to play in the Forgotten Realms is because I like the setting and I guess it is kind of familiar with me. I always loved playing Pool of Radiance which was my first exposure to directly playing any kind of game in the Realms. Maybe I just like the setting and perhaps it can be the most best written(in my opinion) of all the D&D settings combined.

May I play this character? Unusual in that she is based on a Shakespeare character but I like the roleplaying potential in her. Note that although she would want to know why she was transported to Faerun, it is not really a priority for her to return to her home anymore. In fact she would rather stay in Faerun if given the opportunity to return home.

Name: Regan Lear Fleetfoot
Character Sheet Link: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=990571
Race: Human
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Height: 6 ft
Weight: 156 lbs
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Green

Description: Regan is an enigma. She looks like a rugged female ranger with her green leather armor, longbow and quivers, and sheathed longsword. The lithe, slightly muscular 6 foot tall woman in her early 20s has long, dark brown hair and green eyes. She is fairskinned with a slight tan gained from constant exposure to the outdoors. Typical ranger. Yet atypical in the way she walks or sometimes moves. There is a certain elegance, a somewhat nobility to her in the way she moves like that of a noblewoman or princess. She may look like a rugged road wilderness warrior but she seems to have the grace of a lady of the court.

Personality: A lot has changed since her years as a spoiled rotten, sadistic princess of Great Britain. She is kinder, more gentle and has an outward caring personality that makes her a very protective and empathic person. The trouble is she is so used to her old self that she has a hard time showing it. She may have changed inwardly, but outwardly it does not show save for her actions and motives. All those years of neglect from her father, though not necessarily intentional, and suddenly finding love and friendship have made her a very conflicted person. She has been humbled by her near death experience and a kindly man who regardless of who she was accepted and took care of her for real. It has changed her and made a better person, but she is still Regan Lear, and while she is no longer spoiled or evil, there are some things that can never change. While she has a more deeper respect for life and the rights of others, she still has anger issues and can be quite ruthless when crossed. Mind you she will not kill anyone outright for every slight or insult thrown at her, she has enough of a thicker skin to not be so willy nilly with people's lives. But she has a very strong sense of justice and can be merciless and unyielding. Also she has a tendency to take charge and give orders out of instinct, mostly to be helpful and to protect those she works with but there are times when she can be aloof and somewhat bossy.

Regan may have learned to 'rough it' in the wilderness but old habits die hard. She tends to walk and talk like a princess being rather polite and mannerly. Unlike most rangers, she eats properly and tends to clean up after herself. She never drinks ale, only tea or water, and even though she has grown to love living in the forest and the wilds, she does not mind the occasional night in the inn and the warm soft bed and meal that usually comes with it.

Background

Regan is from another world, a once spoiled princess from Earth mysteriously transported to Nentir Vale for some unknown reason, even to her. She was found and taken in by a ranger named Randal Fleetfoot and nursed back to health after days of wandering lost in the Cormanthor Forest. Despite her bossy attitude and somewhat spoiled nature she did have a love of the forests and would start to go hunting with him like she did with her father when she was well enough. Oddly enough she would prove quite the hunter herself. Back in her fathers court when she was a child she was somewhat of a tomboy, actually learning to use a sword and mastering it when she was young and loved to go hunting with her father. But when she got older and got married she had to act like a regular medieval princess in a male dominated society. Being the generally tolerant and helpful man that he was Randal offered to complete Regans training as a hunter so that she might better survive in her new home. Having nothing else to do and having no way of knowing how to get back to her original home Regan agreed. And so began her training as a ranger.

Oddly enough Regan found the freedom, independence and newfound self dependency enticing and enjoyable. She thrived under Randals tutelage despite getting used to doing unladylike things and constantly being dirty, and just mainly roughing it. It took 1 to 2 years but she eventually became a reasonably good ranger. Most of the weapon skills did not need much refining since she knew how to use swords and he taught her to use a longbow effectively. New skills such as hiding and moving quietly in the forest as well as surviving the wilds took a bit of time but she learned. Regan already knew how to ride a horse since hunting with her father usually involved horseback riding. But Randal also offered Regan something that her sisters and at times her father refused to offer, unconditional friendship, kinship and eventually love. Randal was always a kindhearted gentle man of the forest, and eventually the two of them grew close. By offering her unconditional friendship and love, Randal warmed Regans once cold and hardened heart. The two worked together to protect the Nentir Vale and the surrounding area from the goblins, orcs, kobolds and any other threat that posed a danger to the forests and anyone living in it. Eventually the two decided to get married and settle in Shadowdale.

Then a week after Randal and Regan were married tragedy struck. Randal was acting as scout to an emergency delivery of healing supplies and aid to a small town in Haarkenwold which was hit by a plague. Regan was with him helping. The caravan was ambushed by bandits led by a Zhentarim mage. With Randals and Regans help the caravan fought off the bandits but Randal took a poisoned knife in the back. He died in a grieving Regans arms but before that he made her promise that she will live on and continue to do good in the world as she was meant to. Eventually Regan managed to successfully escort the caravan to its destination.

Once her job was finished Regan left and returned to Shadowdale. Having no reason to stay in Shadowdale and given the painful memories it evoked due to the death of her husband, Regan decided to eventually pack up and leave and explore her newfound homeworld more. She now was an adventurer, acting as scout and hunter and protector of the forests. Recently she took on a caravan guarding job that took her to Highmoon in Deepingdale. There she rents a room for the night at the Gilded Lady Inn. And this is where her adventures begin!

Keep on the Shadowfell Request

If I ran a game, I'd want everyone to make a character specifically for the game and based in the setting being used. And I'm afraid I'm not generally interested in GMing characters with a lot of backstory like that, as it tends to wall them off from the other characters
