Shadowrun please

I came up with a character for an S/R game. The GM had more players than needed, so mine did not make the cut. Now that I have her in my head, I really want to play her.

Shadowrun
Any edition, but I only have 1-3, so help with 4 and 5 would be nice.
GM limitations are good, so give us parameters and stick to it.
Small group, 3-5 players.

So lets do some shadowruns, chummers!

Please rmail me if you are interested.

Shadowrun has huge amounts of player interest, and very few GM sadly.  When a new game does come along, it tends to fill quickly.

Yup.  That's 90% of why I decided to run that game in the first place.  I'd much rather be a player, but ... if NOONE steps up to the GM screen, NOONE ever gets to play.

So me, I'm hoping to bank some good karma, so that next time around I can be on the players' side of the table, again.  :)

well getting me experience as a player would help!
I'd be willing to run but I don't understand the system well enough and I don't want toput out 60+ bucks for a book I may never use cus my irl group has no interest in shadowrun (which I personally don't understand)

Shadowrun please

The main problem I have had in the past when running Shadowrun has always been that planning a run always are no problem. Then as the action in itself and the run starts and the drive of the game goes over to the players people stop posting and the game dies.

I could set one up if interest exist but I don't think it should revolve around the runs in themselves. The story would instead be on the characters part of the game, their life and the problem this life have. The runs in themselves I would try to go through very quickly not sure how exactly at this stag

So the initial premise for this game would be:

4 characters with heavy connections between them
Shadowrun 5 + splat books
only standard races
each player needs to know their character's "class rules"

Would people be interested of a game like this?

I have a question for johank.  If you're going to skip the runs, why does a player need to know his "class" rules?  It would almost seem to be the very opposite...that one doesn't need to know their "class" rules.  Also, the format might be a bit boring for the sammies and phys adepts, who shine most during the actual runs.

Add me to the ranks of players looking. I just thought I was in a game but it looks like it's dead. If anyone wants to GM, I'd like to get some Shadowrun on.

Re: Shadowrun please

I might be willing to run a game, I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to play in it though. I'm fairly new to shadowrun and by that I mean that I haven't played it IRL yet, just a bit here on rpol. I'm following several podcasts about it though and I've played Returns, Dragonfall and I'm playing Hong Kong currently, so I feel I have an at least decent grasp of the world. I've been a GM for several years (mostly in DnD) so I think I could manage it, but it would be something of an experiment.

I haven't had the time to read up on all the material and lore (and I probably won't have for some time) so I'll probably have the game set somewhere in Europe, where there isn't as much lore so we'll all be on the same page so to speak, and I'll just make things up when needed. It would be a 5e game without metavariants, no infected or surged players or things like that (mostly to make it easier for me) and it would basically start with the players being recruited to their first ever shadowrun.

Would any of you still be interested?

Re: Shadowrun please

I am going to Rmail you as well Kurodani. I have questions:

1. Do all the PCs have to be from Europe?

2.a What is the theme you have in mind?
2.b Do you have a superheroes theme in mind?
2.c Do you have a more gritty theme in mind, more like super anti-heroes?

Just a quick answer to doom29169

No, as long as you have a reason to be where the character is now (haven't decided where exactly yet) your origin doesn't matter. Knowing the local language might help though.

I'm not sure yet what theme it will be, but definitely not superheroes. With Shadowrun you usually talk about pink mohawk vs black trenchcoat, and I'm probably leaning towards the latter. Then it's up to the players if you want to go by some kind of moral compass or if you want to be ruthless murderers working for anyone with enough money, or something completely different. Maybe vigilantes trying to purge the streets of injustice, it's completely up to the players.

Since there is at least some interest I'll start trying putting something together, I'll keep you posted.

Just to give you guys an update; I'm still around and I'm still planning to get a game going. I'm currently very busy IRL though, so it might take some time before I can get it started. Right now I'm leaning towards setting the game in Spain, Austria, Denmark or the UK. Not sure which one though...

It's not hard to find players, but it's difficult to find gms that are willing to take the time to host the game. Most of the ones that I get involved with just deadline way too easily.

Old shadowrun seems to fair a little better as far as deckers goes. Right now the matrix stuff is kinda dumb with the whole wireless thing, since as far as my understanding go they want to remove running wires.

'Dumb' is subjective. Shadowrun 5e is a future beyond the point where wired connections are primarily catered to by corporations.

Re: Shadowrun please

I've done it! The game page is created and I'm ready to accept RTJ's. Before I flag my game as looking for players I'd like to give the people here a chance to join, since you guys supported me and actually got me to do this. It might take some more time before we actually start playing, but start sending me those RTJ's and give me something to work with. So here's the link: link to another game

I'm looking for 4-5 players, just so you know.
