Sci fi game? Pathfinder, D&D, AW, Freeform... Etc
What's evolve and firefly?
Also, while I'm still new to AW I'm slowly learning it. I'm in a mass effect game featuring an AW system, but it sorta just died a week or two ago. How disappointing.
Also, I'll be honest... If I knew how to DM, especially if I knew how to DM Apocalypse World's, I'd use my own sci fi setting. It's a project I've been working on for the past year or two; and while I'm still getting stuff written down, I have the most of it in my head. In a different sci fi game featuring space zombies, the DM let me use one of my races. It's pretty fun to use them with actual game mechanics from a system. I'd like to see if other DMs would want to use some of the stuff I made.
This isn't a discussion about that though. Before I get myself moderated again, I'll get back on topic.
So, I've realized that D&D and pathfinder might not work, and it would be smartest to broaden the expanses of game systems that I'm searching for. however, I think I should list a few things that I'd probably turn down. I don't want to be picky, but I don't want to waste people's time either.
-Being forced to roll to breathe. What this means is I would like to avoid a game where the dice is life itself, and you have to roll for the most mundane and simple of tasks. This isn't an old-time cheap product commercial.
-Re-painted humans being passed off as aliens. To specify, I value creativity. Someone pulling a member from the blue man group and calling them an alien is... Not that creative. While I'm not saying that the idea of humanoid aliens is bad, I'd rather not have the whole selection of species I have to play be a few multicolored humans and an anthropomorphic animal of two. I won't quit or turn down a game for this as that'd be rude, because I'd be judging a book by its cover, but... Yea.
-gladiator games. What this means is that the entire focus is combat. No character development, no significant plot, no roleplay, just fighting and stuff. I value story over game mechanics, and being someone who loves to roleplay as a common pastime, something like this wouldn't be fun for me.
That's it for now. If you're one of the people who feature this stuff, don't get me wrong; I won't hate you for it, and I won't call your game bad. It's just that I like to lay out my preferences; especially after a recent realization that I can be too vague at times here. I'd like to fix that.
Also, GMs who have made offers earlier on here, can you link your games?
