Looking for d&d, but simplified

So, I'm still a bit inexperienced when it comes to D&D, but I'm quite good at roleplay. So, in hopes to learn d&d and get better all the while enjoying the game instead of handling sheet stuff all day, im hoping to see if someone has a simplified D&D thing to do. Also, I ask for leniency because of the character concept I had. A healer. A kobold Cleric, to be exact. And one that's not dumb. Simple, yes, however what I know of so far, the handbooks don't have Kobolds as playable. Also, they seem portrayed as clever; but not super intelligent.

So, anyone willing to adopt this lost newbie?

Looking for d&d, but simplified and perhaps a little lenient

In reply to RedTeamPyro (msg # 1):

Why would that require leniency? 5e has a template for a PC/principal NPC kobold (in the DMG, p.282). -4 Str, +2 Dex, but no modifiers for intelligence, so a 5e kobold can be as smart & wise as anyone else.

I am curious, though; what is the background of the kobold priest? Is he the shaman/prist/medicine man of his kobold settlement, revering the kobold god or a nearby dragon? Did he break away from kobold society, and take up residence in a cloister in a human or other civilized realm?

I'll be honest, it's on the fly and I'm still developing it. However, I wanted to try something different and make a healer of sorts, and clerics seem to be the best qualified. Also, I'm trying to make a PC, not a NPC. I'll update this thread with some details later on today, when I get home and cool off. It's hot in Kentucky today

Davy's right. 5e is the closest you're ganna get to playing the game round a table with real people. It has very little number crunching.

Alright, I've thought a few things out. So, Let's make her (it's gonna be a female character) a Cleric of Bahamut. Its predictable and probably unorigional, yes, but it makes sense. Kobolds have a little bit of Dragon in them, and she's a good aligned character; so why not be a cleric for a god who's a compassionate good guy and badass at the same time? She's not a pacifist. That's certain. She's going to be a chaotic or neutral good character. As for a name, I'm getting that right now.

Anyways, let's stay relevant to the "Wanted: GMs" thread. Anyone itching for a healer?

*EDIT*
Oh, I almost forgot. Mature or adult rating; either works.

*Edit 2*
I've been using a name generator for name ideas. I have three I like so far
Medko (this ones almost a pun)
Voskra
Maskra

I'm looking at more, but I'm just listing ideas

So yea. I'm gonna keep looking in "Wanted: Players", but I'd much rather find something here

The reference I made regarding the kobold stat blocks in the 5e DMG are for using kobolds as both PCs and NPCs; it doesn't have any fluff text, but it does have all the basics you would need for a kobold race. :)

Have a look at Swords Point, I've had a few players drop out.  I'm OK with new players.  Sadly, you missed the bar room brawl ...
