Rifts GM's

Looking for another Rifts game. The old Palladium system is dying but the setting is timeless. Is there any GM's who want another player?

Are you looking for a group game or a solo campaign?

My tip: wait just a bit longer.

There is a Kickstarter going right now for Savage Rifts.   With Kevin Siembieda's blessing, Sean Patrick Fannon and Pinnacle Games are translating Rifts into Savage Worlds.

I wasn't sure at first this would even work but it's imho a significantly modified version of Savage Worlds and it's like they found a way to do it, blending modern ideas about every character in an adventuring party having agency over the story and the gonzo feel of the setting.

As someone who played 1E Rifts in the 90s, I have seen interest in actually playing the game atrophy as more playable systems came to market and the game just became a collecting habit for some diehards, but this has me excited.

The game is basically already made, the Kickstarter is just to cover the printing costs.  Pdf books are scheduled to be sent to backers in June, and I have backed many PEG Kickstarters.  They have always come through.

So give it some time.  The wheels are already turning in my head... of course it won't happen immediately, people will need a chance to digest it first.  But I thought this might give you reason to hope for the near future.

I would like to get involved in this should something happen.
I like Rifts both the older and golden edition.

I have been watching the kickstarter as it skyrockets.

Would have interest in taking part in the Savage RIFTS game when it comes out. I'm a recent backer.

Yeah I'd be all in on anything that gets started once the new rules come out.

Rifts GM's

Palladium rules can work okay in a play by post context. There are several such games being run on RPOL right now, and I am a player in two games of Heroes Unlimited. I have probably run ten or so Palladium games, including Rifts (1st and Ultimate editions) on different websites. It works well enough if the GM lays down some hard rules at the beginning in order to define expectations.

For example, I'm too much of a softy. In every game I have ever run, I inevitably get new players who ask, "I don't have the books, but I am eager to learn. Just walk me through character creation, okay?" The system just doesn't work like that, but I can hardly ever bring myself to answer, "No, you cannot play." I inevitably end up spending more time on character creation with the players than in the actual game. This is darn near true for face-to-face games as well.

If I had a small group of experienced players...  If I got everyone to go along with my streamlining of the rules to work more smoothly in a pbp medium...  without griping that I am cheating their characters just to be mean and unfair...

I think that I will stop here. I really shouldn't commit to running another game when I am this tired. Send me a PM with short description of the character that you would like to play and the theme you would like to explore in the game. Maybe we can work something out when I am thinking straight.
