BOIT or TROS

I'm looking for a GM who'd like to run a Blade of the Iron Throne game, or Riddle of Steel game here on RPOL. The maneuver based combat can be kind of tricky with PBP, mainly because of the back and forth with the initiative declaration and maneuvers needing to be declared by both parties before rolling. Still though, I love both of these systems and don't get much of a chance to play them AFK so I thought RPOL might be the way to go.

I have no preference as far as group size, or setting, though I would prefer an Adult game that has more of a dark fantasy tone. I can post regularly on week days, and am a competent writer, and would love to build a story with an interested GM.

In reply to Dakien (msg # 2):

I'd love to play, if you can find a GM.

I wouldn't have time to play for a few more weeks, but I'm interested in seeing where this goes (and maybe in joining as a player if the schedule shakes out).

BOIT or TROS

As my busy season is winding down in the next few days, I'll have plenty more time on my hands and would love to get into a Blade game.  So... bump, I guess?

Still looking for anyone interested. It's looking like we have more interest for blade, but either would be great.

Skimmed TROS and somewhat same with BOIT, getting the basic jist of it, and intereted in trying if someone wants to teach a rookie.

Best way to learn a system is [1]make a character, [2]run some trial combats. TROS has one of the best combat systems (read: realistic) I've seen. Plus, the magic system is creative, powerful, and dangerous (to the user, even).

Agreed. Unfortunately, when I've tried to drum up interest in something like this in the past, I've come away empty-handed.

I'm not familiar with the TROS magic system or the meaningful differences (if any) between Blade combat and TROS combat, but I do love the Blade combat system in concept precisely because of its blend of detailed and realistic combat with gameable detail level and flair for action.

Re: BOIT or TROS

Yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat LandWalker. I've had two TROS games lose their DM's from RPOL-atrrition, but no games where things have really come into fruition. I started playing a Blade game a few months AFK but I'm sure we all know how tough it is to get a group of people together regularly.

Character creation isn't too hard in Blade so long as you flick through the applicable sections beforehand, the priority picks make it quite quick.

TROS magic system just wasn't very feasible, it looked very cool on paper, but was massively over powered while at the same time crippling to the caster so as to make any and all obstacles negligible. The rules were also kind of contradictory at times, and using an odd Aristotelian physics system that's kinda hard to wrap your head around. Blade has a much more playable magic system that captures the idea of the Riddle of Steel system while still being applicable to party.

Re: BOIT or TROS

Second the bump.  I would still be interested in a Blade game, as well.
