The Box will be a free-form sandbox-ish game borrowing lightly from Clive Barker's A Hellbound Heart and Hellraiser franchise. The game will be run by multiple Cenobites acting as GMs of their part of the map. Each with their own motives and desires. The main bulk of players will be acting as mortals in one of the Cenobites domain. Gameplay will vary based on the preferences of the individual GM.

For example, the conflicts in one domain (city) could result mainly in action sequences for the player while the conflicts in another might be focused on mystery with some horror. It should be noted though that despite the rather adult concept behind the Cenobites, this game will be rated mature.

There will be one set list of rules for the game that must transcend all domains. It is up to each GM to ensure that the rules are followed in their domain and alert the Head GM (The Box) if any players are causing issues, etc. If a GM is found to not do this, they will be removed and any players not following the rules may be as well.

Each GM will have their own name which they use for actual GMing as well as their Cenobite name. Their Cenobite will be the character who rules over their particular city (as described above). It’s requested that the Cenobite be a fairly large part of player interaction in each domain, but it’s not required.

To further expand on Cenobites, they are mentally unstable immortal individuals. Their natural appearance is extremely mutilated (think Pinhead from Hellraiser...you know, the thing this is based off of). They may sometimes alter their appearance to be almost normal, but only on occasion. Each Cenobite must have a title that reflects their mutilation...again, think Pinhead. Get it? Because there are pins...in his head. Cenobites can go by the names they had when they were human if they prefer. All of the Cenobites are considered to be more or less siblings, and will interact regularly with each other. Each Cenobite controls their own domain, which is a fictional city (in case there were any questions about that).

For creative and practical purposes, all of the cities are located in the midwest United States (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) and are near each other.

There will be three different “forms” that we (the two current GMs) would like you to fill out.
