Mini Mighty Heroes! (DnD 5e)
This is just an idea I've had floating around in my head that I wanted to get out in the open and talk about.
The idea is for a fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons campaign centered around children that are forced into a heroic and adventurous lifestyle. The 'heroes' would be likely be as young as 8 and as old as 15, but those are of course in human terms; I'm not positive where elves fit in, and even less so with smaller races. I know I'm not the first to think of this, in fact I've already found some nonstandard rules about it, but I still think it's irregular enough to be interesting. The content would have to be appropriate for the characters, so not adult of course, but I also don't just want kids whacking large beetles with their wooden swords; I'd like to deal with a young child cleaning blood off his axe, or the implications of a kid making a pact with a demon or other higher being to become a warlock. I short, it could be a really good chance for some storytelling.
I already have a lot of ideas for the storyline and what kind of challenges they would face, but here's the issue; I've never DM'd, and even only have a little experience actually playing. Part of me has been wanting to try though, and start learning, so my first inclination is to seek a partner; someone vetted in DMing and willing to handle a lot of the technical stuff (running battles, and character progression) while I try to learn off them and develop the story. The other option involves the fact that I'd just as much like to play this game as to help run it; so I'd also be willing to give my ideas as well as some story to an interested DM, in exchange for first slot on the roster, and I can get my start DMing some other time.
So yeah, I'm going to try to keep digging through the RPOL rules to figure out anything the pertains, and please either respond here or shoot me an rmail if you'd like to talk about it (I'll only talk story privately).
