WFRP 2e (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2e)

Is anyone willing to run a WFRP 2e game? Doesn't have to be long, just a short adventure lasting a year of real time, or less. I would prefer a custom adventure, but will be ok with a published one also, such as any of the ones found at the back of multiple 2e books, or any one from Plundered Vaults.

I would like a game with roleplay oriented posts and players, as well as a good amount of hack and slash (and the chance of madness!) :)

WFRP 2e (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2e)

I could be convinced to run a game like this, provided the initial 3-6 players are all willing to post no less that twice a week, and not expect more than 3-4 on average from me, as I have a good job and a decent social life outside of RPoL. :)

- I consider myself a very good writer, and so generally don't bother with detailed battle maps, preferring instead to let the players visualize and move about with only minor interference from me and the terrain.

- I log in daily, but generally only update things at obvious points; since most of you seem hopeful for an RP-driven adventure, that suits me just fine.

- I'm lenient on character builds, meaning that [similar to Cthulhu], the grim world of WFRP is filled with danger, and no matter how tough/good/OP you think you are, you can be felled by a clever or lucky opponent. I don't mark people for death, the RPoL dice roller does it for me. ;)

Some things we should consider if this is going to happen:

1. How much XP/advancements would you want to be involved in your careers to begin with? I can hop you in as fresh recruits, or give, say...300-700 xp to build you into something more respectable to begin the game.

2. How important do you want your adventures [and characters] to be in the grand scale? I just read Blackhearts last month, and that is what I usually envision with adventurers: nothing so great as Felix & Gotrek's heroic adventures, but enough to tip the scales locally, with cascading effects.

3. How much will magic play a role in the adventure? I mean both the types of encounters [wizards and foul rituals], the types of players [spellcasters and priests], and the prevalence of magical items in the world? On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being a Conan-esque bare minimum, 10 being the overly-laden country of Halruaa in the Forgotten Realms setting.

This likely would not officially start until after new year's, though the building and prep work can all be done in the next few weeks, if we get enough interest.

WFRP 2e (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2e)

I'd be interested in this. :)

Have you an area in mind chazmo? Empire, Kislev, Bretonnia, Border Princes? I'd love to give a Kislev campaign a shot (Realm of the Ice Queen is an awesome book) but I'm happy anywhere.

Answering your questions:

1. Starting as resh recruits with random careers. Always loved that about WFRP that even someone from a mundane background is on the road for adventure.

2. Heh, I'm just reading the Gotrek and Felix series now. Again I'm happy to start smallish and maybe get bigger.

3. I guess around a 4 to 5 or so. I like WFRP treatment of magic and I'd be happy to fight against or with a wizard or priest but it probably shouldn't be the absolute focus.

WFRP 2e (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2e)

As far as setting goes, both of my previous [tabletop] campaigns have centered around Altdorf, for the simple reason that the group always had a wizard who wanted access to the College(s) of magic. I have some knowledge of how things work in Kislev, but would have to go online or order the book to get the whole experience down right.
I've never run anything at all in Bretonnia, though I like watching their armies on the tabletop Warhammer Armies games. I am most comfortable with The Empire as a base of operations, though this does not stop the group from moving to a skaven warren or a dwarven ruin or an orc- or lizardman-infested swamp or forest.

NOTE: I do not allow halflings in my games. Too often they become Kender, which I hate, or a clone of Pippin Took, touching everything and causing foolish mayhem and then relying on their outlandish number of fate points to save them. Funny is fun, but comic relief can get overly played out. :P

The starting location and initial adventure would also be largely dependent upon the composition of the party, namely A) will the party already know each other before we begin and B) what will the party's racial makeup be?

A) I prefer at least some knowledge of each other, not necessarily previous adventures together, but knowledge of "oh hey, my father served in the marines, too" or "I've seen that rat catcher around town before". Mysterious stranger types are cool to play, but there has to be a certain level of trust in a party that plans to face terrible dangers on a regular basis.

B) By this I mean, is this going to be a 'theme group', where you are all different races but from the same place, like Altdorf or Talabheim or Marienburg, and so have common goals and interests? Or will this be a 'racial core group', with all elves and one human fighting for preservation of a sacred place...all dwarves returning to a ruined city of their ancestors...all humans with one elf/dwarf working for a powerful count or earl....etc.

I am close to accepting the reins of this game.

Do you have Shades of Empire chamzmo? That has a lot of organisations that could still be pretty diverse in terms of career (Altdorf Dockers, Brothers of Handrich, Imperial Navy, etc.)

I think the introductory adventure in the rulebook has everyone come from the one town, either originally or because they were trapped there during the Storm of Chaos.

Hey,

Yes I would be quite interested, and as I mentioned in my OP we can run a published module, such as any of the ones in Plundered Vaults. I am fine with starting careers, but a few extra xp would be great also.

I would also not mind playing a magic user, though not sure yet on collegiate magister apprentice or something like a hedge mage. (the former is only really fun to play if the game gets into at least 1 advanced career, allowing use of college spells)

OTOH I am fine with playing a non magic run of the mill career. Those are usually more fun in a game with basic career PCs.

Alrighty then. I have the bare bones of the game set up, with an RTJ post and a Character Creation post.

Obviously, you can't use the dice roller until you're accepted to the game. Not everyone will be accepted in the first round, as I [we] have not yet decided how large the world will be. Please be patient. I know, there aren't a lot of available WFRP games out there right now.

Please read what I've written and message me there if you are interested in getting things started. I can't say for sure that this will begin full-swing before Christmas is upon us, but we can certainly discuss everything necessary to get the group together and get the ball rolling in the right direction.

The game's name is Legends Untold.
