Legion of Super-heroes game?

Are there any GMs out there wins share my love (or even sufficient knowledge) of the Legion of Super-heroes? I've only seen a few games over the years I've played here. I would love to play in a game set in the Legion-verse!

Because the Legion has such a complicated history, I'm willing to negotiate on game setting background. Ideally, I'm most favoring the Silver Age, Giffen/Levitz, or Post-Zero Hour eras. I could be persuaded to play in a Five Years Later or Retroboot campaign. Threeboot Legion is a deal-breaker, though!  :-p

I'm open to AU twists, though. Maybe play with the Alan Davis Superboy's Legion or even the Subs, if you want a smaller cast.  One possibility might be having three founding Legionnaires recruit versions of the team from throughout time. Say, an Ultra Boy from 1950's Earth or a Princess Projectra from Earth's medieval era?

I prefer systems. I'm familiar with Mutants & Masterminds and Classic Marvel (FASERIP).

Cast of 5-however many the GM can manage. Maybe players could even create 2-3 Legionnaires that we rotate on different missions to accommodate the cosmic, large ensemble feel of the series?

Love The Legion of Super-heroes but I am a Heroes Unlimited person due to resources and experience with it for so long.

Are there any existing character sheets drafted for the Legion? I've never played Heroes, but I'm willing to keep it in mind as an option. Let's see what the other responses say.

Legion of Super-heroes game?

Any GMs? I'm flexible on era, I'm even willing to go freeform, provided you keep the non-genre appropriate characters and Mary Sues out. The Legion is pretty Western in concept and scope, so DBZ/Pokemon-style characters won't work. Yes, I've seen that in the rare Legion games here. Also.tech-based characters--armored sorts, cyborgs, tech weapon as sole power--weren't historically allowed in the Legion. Ideally, I'd like a cast with canon characters mixed with good originals!

Any takers?

I would definitely join a Classic Marvel(FASERIP) or Heroes unlimited 2E game if we could find a GM for it. I'm a little rusty on FASERIP but I recently just purchased a really old copy of the Heroes Unlimited 2E book that I have on me right now. I could go with either.

Its been a long time since I myself have played in FASERIP though, so I'd probably need a bit of a refresher.

Expressing interest. Let me go through my LSH stuff & see what I can come up with. Would everyone be okay with freeform rather than set rules? If your heart is set on rolling virtual dice I can work with FASERIP; as others have said the rules are online for free, and the Classic Marvel Forever site has a bunch of Legion write-ups under Old Profiles.

I've never played in LSH so if there was to be some sort of system based around that I'd probably have a rather large gap in my game knowledge. I don't mind going freeform on Some rules, but I'd rather have some kind of set rules with established house rules in either FASERIP or Heroes Unlimited 2E revised.

Mutants and Masterminds 3e/DC Adventures have stats for the canon Legionaries.

Big fan of the Legion, especially the Silver Age stuff. :)

Yeah, that puts MnM 3e on the board as a solid "Plan B", if Santo doesn't feel like GMing the Classic Marvel system. The stats should convert  from one to the other fairly easily.

We've established a few systems compatible with enough preferences. FASERIP, MnM (either edition), Mayfair's DC Heroes would all work.

Realizing that most GMs don't want a cast beyond 6 players, and that the Legion typically ran no fewer than 12-18 members at any given time, I present a possible solution for the quandary. Players call and create 3 characters. We rotate the cast per adventure if we want to see certain heroes in each new chapter.

I'm also up for playing the Legion of Substitute Heroes or Legion Acadmey if those were more manageable for a GM.

Any thoughts on trying Cypher System for this?

It would really be very accessible that way- less crunch, more storytelling.

I'm a long time LoSH fan and would be happy to GM this for some interested folks. (sorry- didn't mean to step on Santo's potential GMing)

I love the super-heroes/sci-fi future mix and could write a good storyline for this.

Might even recommend stealing the setup from Cortex plus drama, and define relationships between the players and some featured characters (who could fill out the larger cast).

I'm not opposed to players playing multiple characters too.

I'd probably target retroboot, ignoring everything past the first Johns/Frank Superman story.
