I used to be in this game where you played as a fictional faction/nation from whatever franchise you wanted. Your chosen faction was stuck on a different world, and given all it had  at its disposal. There was a lot of political intrigue, cloak and dagger, stuff like that. I played as the Militaires Sans Frontieres from the Metal Gear franchise, and someone playing as the Shinra Corporation/Midgar from FF7 was also there. I know that a game like that would never exist again, except in solo incarnations. I'd like to try and recreate it in some form.

Weird that you should post this. I've been kicking around the idea of a nation-scale game for some time, but wasn't sure if it'd work on RPoL.

Would it have to match exactly what you mentioned (fandom factions, different world, solo), or would you be cool with something a different, but in the same vein?

I'd be cool with it being similar, but not the same. So long as I can still play a mercenary unit armed with modern weaponry + some tech I probably made up.
