I will start by stating the true objective here:
finding a GM who is excited to run a game like this and to check if there are enough Fairy Tail enthusiasts on Rpol.
What is this Fairy Tail you speak of?
Good question. Fairy Tail is an anime series that takes place in a magic world called Earthland. It revolves around a guild of wizards called Fairy Tail. The region of Fiore is run by a kingdom. About 10% of the people in this kingdom have special abilities and are called wizards (mostly they are martial focused with a special ability to enhance that). There is a magic council that oversees magic in the world and they allow official guilds to exist. These guilds take jobs from all kinds of folk around the region in exchange for a reward. There are also guilds that are not acknowledged by the magic council and they are called dark guilds. They usually have an evil objective and take on jobs of assassination and theft, with the most powerful ones often having a goal of world domination or destruction. The whole anime is shonen, which means it contains a lot of action and light hearted goofy behaviour. The Fairy Tail guild itself acts and feels like a family with strong bonds and connections, no matter how different the people in it may be.
What kind of game could this become?
Aha, another good question. I would like it to capture the Fairy Tail spirit. A bunch of players doing missions together, fighting against dark guilds with a deeper plot, or achieving guild related goals. There are many options if a GM decides to pick this up. It could be making a new guild from scratch. It could be joining an existing guild. I even found a map and the game doesn't even have to be going on in Fiore (and it also could).

What kind of mechanics are we thinking?
Due to D&D3.5's versatility, it is in my opinion the best system to do this. I do not suggest homebrewing rules just to fit the Fairy Tail setting as much as possible. I think we should still let it be D&D3.5 with it's many glorious options and it's proven track record.
Due to the nature of the characters from the series, I think
Gestalt would fit best. Mainly to combine a type of magical ability (be it spellcasting, warlockpower, wildshaping, psychicpower, etc etc etc) and martial abilities. I also believe that this type of game would benefit from having characters with a good backbone. Meaning
starting lvl at 6-8ish.
Any input and/or interest as a GM or a player would be greatly appreciated.
