Ghostbusters

Anyone up for running the old WEG Ghostbusters game?

That is all. A simple request.

Re: Ghostbusters

Hmm, I would not be opposed to this.  Which edition would you prefer?

Re: Ghostbusters

Not sure which I have. Looks like the first. I'd be open to whichever.

One part I remember from long long ago that I'm not finding in the books I have is the part where you set up your franchise. I remember you had a certain pool of resources and needed to acquire an office and a vehicle. There were several choices on the vehicles, each with different trade offs.

Anyway, I just like the idea of a ghostbusters game. So I'm open on the edition.

EDIT: Looks like I have first edition, but I'm not picky

Re: Ghostbusters

I only know of one edition. My book is copyrighted 1989.

Anyway, I tried to talk my home group into playing this game earlier tonight. We played a round of "I Am John" instead. I would jump at the chance to run this if I weren't already over-committed. I started running two new games already this month. Let me know if you guys need any NPCs or a recommendation of which modules to play.

Re: Ghostbusters

Okay, the only real difference in first and second is the amount of detail.

Second threw in specialties for the skills, and the ghosts have more specific stuff to do and deal with.

If you don't mind, I'd like to draw on Ghostbusters Extreme (the cartoon?) as part of the background?  Do you have a particular city you'd prefer?

Re: Ghostbusters

I'll check out ghostbusters extreme. Not familiar with that.

I'm not too particular on city. I like Chicago. Boston would be cool. San Francisco might be good too. Or New Orleans.

Second edition sounds fine to me. I checked out extreme ghostbusters. Funny I used to watch the old gb cartoon but never knew about this one. I like the premise of the show. Makes for a nice setup.

Re: Ghostbusters

Alright, I'm going to make this happen.

I hadn't thought of New Orleans....  Sounds interesting.

*Brain farts*

One question (based on Honest Trailers' doing a trailer for the first movie), what would you prefer, General, Mature, or Adult?

In reply to Thkaal (msg # 9):

Yeah New Orleans is ripe with opportunity.

I'm ok with a general rating. The original movie was pg13. I could see mature maybe but it doesn't seem necessary.

Re: Ghostbusters

I've run Ghostbusters at local conventions for decades and think it would be an excellent choice for play-by-post. The setting of my games has always been my hometown of Detroit. Have six or seven pre-gens from convention play as well.

Re: Ghostbusters

Detroit would be a cool setting. I'd prefer my own character, but feel free to rmail me to work out additional details.
