Fan Service Superheroine  (Group or Solo)

If you're just going to post some "clever" or snide comment like you're twelve years old, please just move along. I'm sure offensive comments break RPoL rules, anyway. Despite the subject matter, this is actually serious.

Otherwise, please feel free to contact me through rMail.

Background:

Several years ago, I played in a tabletop superhero campaign using the old TSR Marvel Super Heroes RPG. The GM had some random charts (partially taken from Palladium, if I recall) that determined things like gender, height, weight, etc. Being the only one who didn't really have an idea of what I wanted to do, character-wise, I decided to just go all random, including powers. Slightly embarrassingly, I ended up with a female character for the first adventure, and the GM said that after this one-off, I could always just make a new, permanent character when I decided on something definite. The adventure went just fine, and my character actually ended up with the beginning of several cool sub-plots.

The next week, when the second adventure rolled around, time constraints prevented a new character being created, so I just played her again. After that adventure, I was kind of liking the character a lot, and the other players suggested I just keep playing her as my permanent character for the campaign. The GM had also awarded awesome Karma (kind of like spendable XP) bonuses for playing her "in character."

That campaign lasted over a year and a half, and I only recently came to the realization that the reason the GM and other three players were so persuasive that I not create a new character was because they had a "token female" on the team - and to a degree, fan service.

That being said...

Sure, there are plenty of female gamers these days (as well as males who don't mind playing female characters) - especially online - but if there's a GM out there looking to add a "token female" to their all-male superhero game, I'd love to play her again (or an updated rendition of her) in a new campaign. This time, now that I know what's up, I'd be agreeable to making fan service the primary purpose (meta-game) of even being in the game.

Also... If a GM wants to run a solo game involving the above, with lots of fan service provided, I would also be agreeable to that.

I'm familiar with the old Marvel Super Heroes game (as expected), Mutants & Masterminds (all editions), DC Adventures and probably some other superhero games as well. If I don't know it and it's not too complex, I also don't mind learning.

If you're interested, please send an rMail.

Fan Service (Paraphrased from TV Tropes):
Characters in skimpy clothing, skin-tight clothing, panty-shots, costume wedgies, etc. under the assumption that it will attract or "reward" viewers. Real fanservice is seldom explicit or graphic — that is the territory of pornography. Instead, it is primarily there to "add a little extra" by teasing and titillating the audience.

Re: Fan Service Heroine for Fantasy or Supers  (Group or Solo)

Hello minioch,

Your story about how you created your character is entertaining but not particularly useful. If you really want to match this character with a game, tell us more about her. Descriptions of her personality, background, and abilities would go a long way towards finding the place where she would fit best.

For example, I am currently running a game about neolythic cave men and cave women. There are leather bikinis and furry loins cloths everywhere, but that doesn't tell me if the character you have in mind would work in this campaign. It also doesn't tell me if you would even want to see your character in a campaign like mine.

Well, no matter the genre, the character's background and personality (and abilities) would depend on the setting and the game itself. I don't have any "set in stone" details that couldn't be altered to compliment that.

So, to detail those things, I feel, just pigeon-holes the character almost as much as if I had said, "she's a half-dragon vampire from the planet's second moon."

What if she's a superheroine and I were adamant about the fact that she lives in modern day? Well, so much for a golden age campaign, I guess.

Therefore, the above details are the only things that I feel have to be there. Otherwise, she would "fit" in any game that would welcome such an idea, because I'd modify her to suit.

Re: Fan Service Heroine for Fantasy or Supers  (Group or Solo)

Would you be opposed to a new Super?  I've been wanting to do a Supers game.  Yes, I am very familiar with FASERIP so could easily run it.

I even, at one point (many years ago, say 1985 or 1986) developed a point system for it.

I am also familiar with Mutants and Masterminds (though prefer Champions which it is hilariously based on).

I also know Superworld (put out by Chaosium).

And Mayfair's DC Heroes.

So, if it's a particular setting, or one you would like to see created from whole cloth, I could conceivably be your gm.

I also wouldn't mind seeing other players.

By the way, since this seems to be fan service, are we talking General fan service, Mature fan service or Adult fan service?

I would watch this with interest *shifty eyes*
Of course if Heroes Unlimited or Wild Talents was involved...

Re: Fan Service Heroine for Fantasy or Supers  (Group or Solo)

I'd be interested in taking this on using Marvel Super Heroes.

Are you wanting something serious or humorous? Does it have to be token female or would you be interested in a femme force five thing?

Anyone else interested in this concept? Could go solo but let me know if anyone else is out there.

I'm down with a "Birds of Prey"/"Lady Liberators"/"A-Force"-esque game! What if we subverted the "Token Chick" trope with a "Token Dude"?

I believe that is called a "Harem" style show/game. A theme particularly common in Anime.
