I'd love to play a game of PTU with only one or two players in it. That way there's less trouble balancing encounters with a big party, less being off-schedule with the other players(every time I'm in a group game 1 person ends up having a completely different posting schedule), and the possibility for a more involved plot, with personal connection and meaning to your character.

I'd be interested in just about anything interesting presented to me), but these are things I've thought of that I could easily make a character for:

-Quest to be a gym leader. Similar to the standard "To be a Champion," but with a different end goal. Whether it's a desire to start a new gym, inherit an old one, whatever. I like the idea of an aspiring Leader

-Pokemon Rangers style plot. Protecting the wild pokemon from something.

-Origins of a team. Some up and coming team aqua type thing, sort of a fall to darkness?

-Any ideas a potential GM might have, I'd love to hear!

I love the ideas you have come up with, particularly the becoming gym leaders one and the up and coming team one. Unfortunately I do not have the time to run a game in a system I know, let alone one I am unfamiliar with. However I would love to join as the second in your journey. Being in a duo game would help me learn this system as I have wanted to learn it for a long time but haven't had a chance to try it.

Still looking, if anybody is interested in running a game. I'm a pretty flexible player with terms of plot, those were just ideas I had.
