I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder

I just really want to play Pathfinder as a Fairy or Pixie illusionist.... But Pathfinder doesnt have those so I need a game that allows custom races to be made.

Re: I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder

I've been wanting to play a faerie or some such in a game for some time now but I've had no luck.  :(

If someone takes this up and has more room then I'd love to join!

Hmm... Alright, so let's assume someone were to throw together a Pathfinder game based around all of the PCs being Fae of various sorts.  What kind of storylines would you like to see in that?  The Fae, for all that they are interesting, have some... unique limitations.

Are there rules for playing as a pixie or are you just looking to throw class levels on top of the base monster entry as pixies start at CR 4 which equates to 8th level (I think...).

Re: I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder

Pathfinder gives you a toolkit for building races with Race Points.  You can reverse engineer the creature to give a number of RP and then set that as the game standard.  It'll definitely be a big number, but it's not as hard as you'd think since most of the pixie abilities have spell analogues.

Race points act, sort of, as an ECL adjustment, but not really.

From a potential DM perspective, I'd just like to hear more about the kind of story this game would be looking for.  "Gee, mechanics!" only takes you so far.

I'd quite like a sort of "Little Heroes in a Big Man's World" kind of story.

Re: I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder

Great idea, actually. Bronies got their Ponyfinder, why not some Pixie Hollow adventures? The Tinkerbell movies are pretty cool, and not girly at all.

Of course, that is, if I am way off the mark and you had some other idea in mind.

(Personally, I'd find it awesome if someone were to create a Smurf adventure. The dialogue would be hilarious!)

A Pixie Hollow game (with a bit more fantasy twist perhaps) would be pretty cool. I'd be down for that.

I would also really smurf a fantasy game based on Smurfs! That would be smurfy good fun.

Well first, Fae don't really have many limits in Pathfinder that I have seen. They have to eat and sleep and breath but that is it. But personally I would like to see a game where Humanity either doesn't trust the Fae and you are trying to play a circle of Fae who are trying to integrate, or perhaps a reemerging of Fantasy thing where you are making contact with Humanoid races for the first time in a long time.

Ooooh! I have an idea. So Elves and Gnomes are Fae-like creatures in Pathfinder. Imagine three kingdoms, that of Men, Dwarves, Orcs, and Halfling and such. They are known for being staunch and stodgy, but very industrial and good at making things last. The Kingdom of Elves and Gnomes, known for grace beauty and power. And then the Land of the Fae, known for their Magic and Whimsy.

It has been a long time Since the races of Men and the Fae have met as they have been separated by the Elves and Gnomes, who are charged with keeping the peace between men and fae. Well now for some reason Fae and Men want to meet, whether for war or for peace, and the players can be of any of the three kingdoms.

The Kingdom of Men shun the Fae because they are Mercurial and Dangerous. Men, Dwarves, and Orcs fear the Fae's magic and believe that Fae wish to enslaves their minds.

The Fae see the Races of Men as Stodgy and "Too Serious". They see men's machinations of war and fear the movement of men would impose harsh damages upon their world.

The Kingdom of Elves and Gnomes like their position as Peacekeeps as it have given them much wealth and respect among both Men and Fae. This push for Men and Fae to meet threatens the Elves natural position of power over both.

~~~~
This idea could go in all sorts of directions! Imagine a vast sprawling magical world inhabited by Fae and dream-like beasts where both your best dreams and worst nightmares come true. Then you have the harsh serious world of men where weapons and armor are made, armies march, but there are still those who are joyous and heroes. In between them lay the land of Diplomats, where Elves and Gnomes try to keep the status quo and try to keep war from occurring every day. I WANT TO PLAY THIS NOW!
Re: I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder
how about a epic version. where that PC have to over come there darker cousins, while remaining unseen from the mortal world. could have it set up which ever side control an area that area starts to reflect the alignment of the winner. for this idea to work would have to take place in a setting where mortals. humans, orcs and such, may have limited access to magic.
the idea is the darkness is growing more alarmly powerful perhaps from an ally that the fey would find incomprehensible. demon, devil, etc.
Re: I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder
I don't know that I could quite run that setting.  How about something like this, instead:
IN the early days of the world, the wild places were over all.  The Fey danced in meadows and frolicked among the mountains.  Then came the gods, and gods cast new races in their image.  Men from the earth, dwarves from the stone, elves from the wood.  Whereas the Fey danced in harmony with all things, the new races brought Order.
The dwarves were the first to dig great cities out from the mountains, forcing the world to their will.  The stone was worked, the forges fired, and the mountains rang with the song of hammers.  The fey of the stone changed as well.  Thus fell the trolls.  Thus fell the goblins.
The humans took to the vast plains where they tamed horses and wolves as their tools.  They tilled the soil and diverted the streams, carving out vast kingdoms for themselves.  The fey of the open places changed as well.  Thus fell the orcs.  Thus fell the gnolls.
The elves lived in peace with their forests for a long time, but many too began to shape their environment.  Soon, the elves splintered and the high elves tamed their forested homes to their will, forcing trees to move aside and give up their wood for buildings.  Fortunately, the wood elves continued to live in harmony, and the drow fled to the stone places, leaving the forests only partially changed.  Thus fell the gnomes, no longer immortal.  Thus fell the bugbears.
Not all fey fell, though, though they no longer danced as openly as before.  Some fey learned to live among the mortals and others learned to hide themselves away.  The fact that mortal alchemists soon learned the many uses for fey parts did not help this at all.  In the deepest, wildest places of the earth, stone, and wood, the Court of Seasons still holds sway.  Mortals still leave out offerings to appease them and say words to ward them away, but no longer is the entire world their domain.
That's all background, though.  The question becomes... what is the game itself.  We clearly want to allow pixies, as that's what most of the early requests were about, so that establishes a few things.  I think that the PCs should all be Fey, and that should have a pressing, common goal (I have ideas about that one, actually).
In general, the Fey:
1) Don't change.  They might grow, individually, but they don't "change" at a fundamental level.  Even if humans develop ray guns, the fey's use of bows and arrows and swords is so fundamental to who they are that they won't change.
2) Don't age.  While elves live a long time, they're not truly immortal.  Fey are.  The concept of time is almost meaningless to a fey and mortality a puzzling concept.
3) Can't stand the touch of worked iron.  For ages, the working of iron has been anathema to the fey as it is the clearest sign that Order is being imposed on the world.  There is no special "cold iron" metal as all iron (and steel) have the same effect on the Fey.  While it doesn't hurt them, physically, to touch it, it is painful and irritating.  Weapons of iron and steel cut right through faerie magic, dispelling illusions and defenses.
So... a group of Faeries in this world, on a mission to stop the end of all Fey... sound interesting?
I really like this idea. Especially love the idea of playing a Pixie who misses the "fallen" Fae, sees them all with a sort of romantic longing.... *tears form in eyes*.... I just want to save them and bring them back to the natural world.
Re: I want to play a Fairy/Pixie Illusionist in Pathfinder
Here's the game I'm working up.
link to another game
It'll be a while before I'm ready to start, but part of the challenge is working up the races so we might as well start now.
As a warning, the game premise is going to be a little light-hearted and a little silly.  This isn't going to be a grim-dark Changeling game or anything.  The world is sort of a fantasy world, but with contemporary aspects for the non-fairy parts of the world.  There will also be a few groan-inducing plot elements revealed over time, including some puns.  You've been warned.
