A God Game?

So I just got into God Games, played my first one a few months ago, and then, just today, it's been deleted. Is anyone willing to run a new one? I'd love to start a new Void with my old friends.

In reply to grezo2012 (msg # 1):

You mean a game where you're a god, and you create your own world?

Sounds like fun, I could do that.

I'm rather new though, so I don't know the different rule systems very well. Not that a God would care about that though.

Re: A God Game?

I might be willing to run a small game... I was running one before (a few months ago), but I got incredibly busy and it had way too many players in it for its own good.

How many people are you wanting?  I've run God Games often enough to be pretty good at it, I've just learned I can't handle more than 4-6 people (which that game had 8-9, which just was too much to do).

I've got all of the rules and can make minor adjustments if desired, but otherwise I can start one up without too much trouble.

What ruleset? The Lords of creation rule set looks decent.

Re: A God Game?

Its a non-official rule-set that I've found used/modified on RPoL over time, it is called "The Void"

It doesn't have deity ranks or portfolios, but just keeps track of what the gods do through ACTs that they get every so often, allowing them to do anything as long as it does not hinder the actions of other gods or run in the face of previous ACTs (which become laws of the universe which cannot be undone).

There is more to it than that, but that is the basic gist of it.

How many people are we talking being interested here?

Like I said earlier, I really don't want more than 4-6 and I'd like those who are more interested in a highly detailed and more serious setting (this isn't required, but I find I run games better when they take this route).

Re: A God Game?

Count me in. I've been in a god game a bit ago that died off. I would like to give it another go. Maybe a smaller group is the key to it lasting.

Re: A God Game?

Well, I'll let whoever is interested say so here first, and they will get first dibs rather than putting out my own ad.

I just want to give a slight reminder, I can do a much better game if people are willing to play the game truly seriously and create gods with more than one dimensional personalities ("I'm da evul khaos gawd, fearrr mee mortalsss!!!" is fun but not wholly interesting).  Especially with a smaller group, quality of play is much more important, but with a small and quality group the game can become incredibly detailed and fun.

So, right now I've got these players for sure:

Re: A God Game?

I'd like a small game personally of about 4-5 people at most. But I am in for sure. I was new to God Games before the other game so I don't know much about different rules, but we started in a void with no physical laws and had to create our way. :)

Re: A God Game?

I have played in a couple of God Games (using the Void Ruleset), usually with 10 players and they tend to die around the second age.  I'd be down for a smaller player set.

Re: A God Game?

I've got three people interested so far, I'd prefer only 1 or 2 more to join, 3 at most but I'd prefer not.

Re: A God Game?

I've sent everyone who is interested an rMail before I post an actual game, we will discuss creating gods and what sort of gods everyone will want to play as in this game.  With a lower number of players I'd really prefer to avoid player's having redundant ideas for the direction they want their gods to develop in.

I usually state that at the beginning of the game, all gods start with no affinity for certain things (Ie. no gods of water, chaos, good, evil, sun, honor, etc.), but instead are more blank slates that can form and change over time.  Gods might have concepts already in them and be drawn towards those, since you are all from Ao (the head god who knows all, so you in turn know all), but you will gain "purviews/affinities" by actually doing ACTions in the Void, not just by declaring it.

Few things bother me more than the tree god who claims they are the king of all trees, yet all they did was create trees once and then never do anything with them again.

So, once everyone gets discussing in the rMail, I can start getting the game ready!

Re: A God Game?

Sorry, I was re-wording some things so I hadn't posted the r-Mail yet, but it should be sent now!

If you have any questions, feel free to r-Mail me in a separate message.  Rules for the game will be posted once the game itself is actually up and running.

Would you happen to have this ruleset posted somewhere

Re: A God Game?

I have a version of it, but I plan on mixing it up a bit for this game so the copy I have won't be fully applicable to the game that will be played.
