Hello!

I've recently been introduced to the L5R card game and I invariably discovered the RPG as well. However, I am not around a huge community of L5R players in real life, so I hoped I could find an internet group on this site to try out this rpg and setting.

I personally am getting into the Spider Clan, but I also like Scorpion and Crab (and I may consider others, but I don't know as much about them yet) if playing a Spider is too problematic for the GM. I'm willing to work with any GM willing to accommodate a new fan of L5R learn and explore the setting and hopefully get a good game going.

yeah, they're the, uh, "clan" that the shadowlands control. iirc they're a bunch of ronin and defectors that got organized and have learned to draw power from the taint.

on another note, if this finds a GM, i would love to play. i too love the scorpion, and various other clan (though imagine an all scorpion game going out and sacrificing their honor to save the empire... or ARE THEY?!?). anything would be pretty fun.

Until recently the Spider have been fairly official and if not above board, then at least not exactly scheming against the empire as a whole.

Their tainted samurai were restricted to the outskirts of the Second City, leaving few other than the Susumu within Rokugan itself. The Chuda defected to serve the Oni Lords after the clan was granted legitimate status within Rokugan, and (very recently) the Shadow Dragon has been imprisoned and cut off from its' Goju and Ninube followers - most of whom are somewhat loyal to the Spider.

I talk about it in past tense, because with the upcoming ascension of Iweko II, I've heard that's all going to change.

The chance to take place in a group of somewhat honourable & untainted Susumu, Daigotsu, Goju, and Order of the Spider monks within the Empire would be pretty cool - probably more so if the school selection was opened up somewhat. (hopefully incentivised with a free Obligation disadvantage and clan betrothed, rather than the Different Schools advantage)

*Also, this was released yesterday, and I'd buy a copy for the chapter on Shourido if someone was willing to run a game where it was relevant.

I'm not entirely sure about everything in Rokugan's history as I have not done that much extensive research into things. I've been reading wikipedia articles about the Spider Clan, since I plan to make a Spider Clan deck for the CCG. Still, I don't exactly get what's happening right now. As far as I know, a new Emperor (Empress?) is being crowned, and everyone's gonna celebrate (thus the new CCG set is called 20 Festivals). Also, I think one of the previous Empresses acknowledged the Spider Clan as a Great Clan. But that's all I know about right now. I hoped a game online would also fill me in on what else is going on in the world.

I'm especially interested in how the Spider is being accepted into the Empire, and I think a game based on a bunch of characters learning to cooperate with the Spider would be fun as well. For example, maybe a character has been forced into an arranged marriage with another Spider clan character, and they roleplay learning to get along together.

Of course, I'm open to anything a GM would want to do, as I know from experience that being able to make up your own stories is one of the best parts of running a game.

Anyway, I'm really excited now after typing this. Please someone make a game! I really wanna play! :P
