Pathfinder: Heroics Over the Eons.

One of my favorite aspects of roleplaying games is seeing how the actions of a group gradually alter their world (intentionally or otherwise).  The difficulty with this is that in any group, and especially on rpol, the passage of time is a tricky thing to incorporate.  So here are some hooks on which I think an interesting campaign could be built.

  1.  All characters have some form of immortality.  Here are a few possibilities:
Artificial life such as elans or warforged.
    Extraplanar bloodlines.
    Magically/alchemically enhanced longevity.
    Certain forms of reincarnation.
A family line with a geas or duty to fulfill (over time, each character is replaced by a younger family member).

As a side note, I don't mean we should all be godlike or epic characters.  We can start off in the 4-6 level range and I'd be happy.  But from whatever background reason, we all have this quality.

  2.  Each chapter of the game involves one or more major choices the characters can make that could shape the development of their environment.

  3.  There is time between adventures.  That is to say, we may know we can rely on each other (or have some plot reason to do so), but we aren't adventuring nonstop.  So after we've finished an adventure and determined an outcome, ten years, twenty years may pass, allowing development of the seeds we've sown.  Perhaps we could even have individual agendas we push during downtime to further shape the future.

For obvious reason, a dynamic world would be ideal.  I'm fine with whatever the GM feels she can bring to life, but I'd also strongly recommend Eberron as a world with rich history and future.

  tl;dr
All characters immortal, level 4+ (max around 8 at start?)
Small group (no more than 5)
Time gaps between adventures to see what becomes of our actions.
  Dynamic setting.
Pathfinder system.  I wouldn't mind throwing in Heroic or something, but for the most part, keeping it simple is probably best.

  If you have any questions or are interested in GMing, please rMail me.  I'm really bad about checking ads.  ;~;

Re: Pathfinder: Immortality.

I'd rather stay away from that, because it means we'd probably have to arrange early adventures specifically around that char achieving immortality, and I don't want to force the story in that direction.  There are two options presented above (reincarnation and family lines) that don't require immortality per se.

Re: Pathfinder: Immortality.

Interesting idea.

I'm not interested in GMing, but a plot hook does occur to me that seems worth suggesting...

What about having a set of legendary artifacts, passed down through time, which, in addition to being powerful magical items in their own right, grant the wielder access to all previous wielders' memories. You could have each player design their own artifact, which vould be a weapon, or armour, or a necklace, or even a pack of cards... Either way, it should have powerful abilities, as they are the one thing that would stay constant about the characters. Each new wielder would be a chance to shake things up. Why they always appear together could be a bit of a sticking point, but destiny or gods mucking about is usually a good start, and a top-notch gm might be able to come up with a way to make it a plot feature.

Re: Pathfinder: Immortality.

You are already in my Agents of the Moon God game, Jarilye. Some of  your criteria are already in play. Returning the Moon God's worship could easily alter the world, particularly in the surrounding region.

And we have a Living Monolith who is now immortal.

Re: Pathfinder: Immortality.

Star, while I'm looking forward to the Agents game, the premise of this is pretty distinct as the purpose is to see how the player's actions shape the world over the long-term (as in, centuries).  The narrative would have years, decades, or more between adventures.

Fire, that sounds pretty neat, though it may take some tweaking.
