DnD 5e - shady business operators

I would love to play a shady business operation set in historical/fantasy setting. The main goal of the operation is to make money (through adventuring, thefts, killing, etc...).

I have this Sorcerer, exiled Noble, guy in my head and I would love to play as him.

i like this idea. i've got too much going on to run it, but if it ever gets off the ground, i'd love to join in.

Sounds interesting.  I'm usually playing more selfless types, might be good to explore this side of morality.

Re: DnD 5e - shady business operators

I've run a game like this before. There are excellent sources for businesses and merchants in the PHB II, DMG II, Powers of Faerun, and maybe one or two other books. The DMG II has info on starting up businesses--ridiculously expensive by the way--and there is a prestige class ideally for bards and maybe sorcerers that deals almost exclusively with businesses.

I'd like to get in on a game like this too. And if its about running businesses, it works best to go by weeks instead of days.

I'm not really looking for a pure business management game, but I do expect a lot of downtime activities with big gaps between "active" adventures.
