You GM solo 5E for me - I GM solo 5E for you

Sorry, Pathfinder. I've caught the 5E bug - and bad! The once-a-month game I GM in real life and the one (very active and well run) game I play here just isn't scratching the itch.

Accordingly, I'm looking for someone in the same boat - someone looking for an open-ended adventure tailored to their interests without having to wait for multiple people to post in order for the story to progress. Therefore, I'm putting out the following offer:

If you (being an active poster and creative veteran of playing/running RPGs) are willing to GM a solo D&D 5E game for me, I (being an active poster and creative veteran of playing/running RPGs) will GM a solo D&D 5E game for you.

So, have we got a deal?

If I can find  a copy of the DMG and Monster Manual on the cheap I'm in. Right now all I have is the 5e PHB. I have started looking but only a couple days ago. Takes a bit of luck to find a good deal n books that new.

Re: You GM solo 5E for me - I GM solo 5E for you

Just ran my first session of D&D 5E as a GM last night - rocky start that firmed up into something really fun by the end of it. Having sat in the big chair for a couple of hours, my desire to play (as a player) has only grown.

Would anyone be willing to run something for me, please? My offer to return the favor stands.

No takers ...?

Just in case this is what is holding back any prospective DMs, I'm more than cool with you simply running a game FOR me without you having to play a solo game run BY me. I just figured perpetual DMs (like myself) would be more apt to agree to run a solo game if they were getting to play their own game in turn.

Re: You GM solo 5E for me - I GM solo 5E for you

Might be interested.  I have some questions first though:

1.  What kind of activity rate are you expecting?  I would personally be expecting 3 to 6 posts per week (variable depending on the week's schedule, haha) with the exception of combat which would hopefully run much faster.

2.  What kind of story are you interested in playing?  Do you have a specific character in mind?  Do you expect some GM-NPC's as companions to tag along?  Any other expectations, wants, or needs related to this?

3.  As a GM, what are your strengths and weaknesses and preferences?  Are you good at running combat focused games, or do you prefer to spin a mystery and intrigue kind of game?  Do you like weird and interesting settings?  Do you prefer to let the player run a handful of characters or just one character for this sort of game?  How much input do you want from your player in regards to the world building aspect of things?

W0LF0S, thanks for the interest. I found my DM.

That said, we've started a general place for people to run 5E games, "Fifth Edition Adventures," if anyone is interested in running/playing solo games of their own.
