Star wars, clone wars ,Deniable operations.

I had an idea for a stat wars game the other day that should prove interesting. A group of clones whose job it is to go places and do things that no one else can or will do. All the dirty black Ops stuff that doesn't get talked about. The stuff the jedi would have no part of.

This game would be entirely clone troopers. The classes would be restricted to things like soodier, scout, mechanic, and possibly some multi class to scoundrel and noble.

The system I want is revised core rules. Though I would be open to saga as well.

Sounds fun. I have a lot of experience with Saga and would enjoy playing in a game that has no force users.

I have thrown around the idea of doing a game loosely based on the ideo of the Republic/Imperial Commando novel series.  Players are all clone troopers/commandos of a unit like Delta/Omega squad and sent to handle difficult missions.

Interesting - Do you think the players would all be okay starting with identical stats and all be Soldiers at level 1 with identical Feats?  I'm not saying that would be the starting point, in fact a couple of levels to allow the characters to develop unique traits would be interesting.

Thoughts?

Is this game still a possibility? I'd be willing to take up the role of GM (or player, if you no longer need one of those). I have no experience with the original wizards version but plenty with Saga.

I'm also curious about this too. I have some Saga and some d20 books for each, but from what I remember, the elite troopers, supercommandos or whatever they were called were like level 17 or 18.

Re: Star wars, clone wars ,Deniable operations.

I am still in.

The players could start with a pre-made pack of stats and levels then allowed to customize.
Something along the lines of solider 4 then given three levels in whatever class they wanted to fill the role of the clone commando.
Examples of commandos are in the galaxy at war book.

Edit: galaxy at war has stats for "Dee-Cee" ICWS and the kataran body armor.
Clone wars has stats on the specialized clone MOS's.

Re: Star wars, clone wars ,Deniable operations.

I would suggest 3 pre-made levels in soldier and 4 custom, rather than the other way around. That way you get a bit more variation in ability scores.

Here's my take on what the starting stats could be. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Clone Commando

Medium Human (clone) Soldier 3 with 4 more levels to be assigned by the player
Destiny ???; Force 6
Init +8; Senses Perception +6
Languages Basic, Mando'a

Defenses Ref 18 (flat footed 17) (including +6 armour), Fort 16 (including +2 equipment), Will 12
hp 47; Threshold 16

Speed 6 squares
Melee unarmed +5 (1d6+3)
Melee vibrodagger +5 (2d4+3)
Ranged Interchangeable Weapon System (basic configuration)  +4 (3d8+1)
Ranged Interchangeable Weapon System (sniper configuration)  +4 (3d10+1)
Ranged Interchangeable Weapon System (anti-armor configuration)  -1 (4d6+1, 3-square burst)
Ranged Sidearm Blaster Pistol +4 (3d6+1)
Base Atk +3, Grp +5
Special Actions Team Feat (to be decided between the team)

Abilities Str 15, Dex 13, Con 10, Int 12, Wis 10, Cha 8
Talents Armored Defense; Improved Armored Defense
Feats Armour Proficiency (light, medium); Weapon Proficiency (pistols, rifles, simple weapons, advanced melee), Coordinated Attack, Martial Arts I, Team Feat (to be decided between the team), Mission Specialist (1 skill in which you are trained)
Skills Initiative, Perception, Treat Injury, 2 unassigned (must be selected from soldier class skills)
Possessions clone trooper armor, DC-17 interchangeable weapon system, sidearm blaster pistol, vibrodagger (this may vary under the requisitioning system, but these items will normally be included in all packages)

The talents and feats included above are all either from the Core Rulebook or Galaxy at War. If I was to run the game, I would probably allow content from all books except KOTOR or Legacy. Alternatively, we could just run the game with content from the Core, the Clone Wars Campaign Guide and Galaxy at War, (and maybe a Starships of the Galaxy, and/or some select rules from other books) in order to simplify things and give the campaign more focus.

I would also assume that the campaign would use Galaxy at War's requisitioning system, rather than a wealth system.

That makes me just about ready to set up a "Deniable Ops" game, but what do the rest of you think of the ideas we have so far?

PS: I removed Coordinated attack in exchange for proficiency in advanced melee weapons in order to use the vibrodagger you are given. This doesn't stop you from picking up the former feat later on. I also updated the attack stats to show your lack of proficiency in heavy weapons. Heavy weapons specialists should take care to add this feat!
