High schoolers and super powers and zombies, oh my!

I have had this idea in my head for a while but don't think I can manage GMing it, though I could co-GM at a push.

In my head it starts as the first day of a new academy for teens with super powers, all nice and normal, and then things go wrong. A mad scientist with a thing against the 'mutant scum' tries to release a virus to rid the world of them but instead it turns every non-mutant into a flesh eating zombie with a love of super powered flesh.
Appropriate chaos ensues.

While I'm sure this could be played as a free-form game I suspect it might work better with some kind of basic, newbie friendly rules set though I'm not sure which one.

So what do you think? Anyone wiling to take this on?

a low-powered DC-Adventures/Mutants and Masterminds might work.

This sounds fun!  What kind of tone are we talking about here?

Well the last rules based thing I played was DnD in about 1998, hence the need for help or someone else to run it.

Not sure on the tone, would be up to the GM I suppose.
