I don't think it's worth bringing pre-made characters, I want to settle on a theme / group concept first. In my experience, if things happen individually first, there's little chance the characters as a group will last long -- which also becomes then true for the game.
At a first glance, if you want to join, think of a group concept (mood + common goal + reason to do things together) for a single order (including Apostate mages), and a role or two in that group you would like to play.
