Standard Superhero game - The Tower

I’d like to play in a fairly standard superhero campaign. Heroes in cool powers, costumes and secret identities. Villains with flair and personality. Some Humor, but not making fun of the genre.

No PCs who are - Silly characters. Assassins. Grim loners.

Very few people hating aliens/mutants/sorcerers just out of mindless bigotry.
People are generally pleased to see us show up.

By preference Champions 5th edition, but that is less important than the stuff above.
Perhaps something has happened to the city’s super team, and the mayor recruits new heroes, who can use their base, The Tower, until the old team return.

Or any other start point the GM likes the idea of.

I can assist in running this game by playing the villians as amazing outlandish monolog writing evil people. Nothing says villian like having the hero's so at your mercy they have to listen to your speaches. Sadly I don't have enough experience with the system to run the game itself.

It would be interesting to do this along the lines of the backup avengers, using the concept setup in the ultimate Spider-Man episode. Basically, tony stark sets up a failsafe in case something happens to the original avengers team. Jarvis contacts a new set of members who stark has been tracking. A similar thing happened with the fantastic four (which could also work) that created the limited edition Spider-Man, ghost rider, wolverine, gray hulk ff team. Same concept you're going for.

The old marvel super heroes seems like the best rule set (or possibly marvel heroic).

Re: Standard Superhero game - The Tower

I might be willing to run something like this, although I'd be utilizing the Mutants and Masterminds 3d edition ruleset (which conveniently is available, in full, to all players for free on an srd website).

I would also be VERY interested in having a "co-GM", so to speak, in TinyTim, who was willing to bounce ideas back and forth for the villains. I'm the sort of GM who enjoys having long-standing games, with long-term ideas, and I really can't stand the "constantly rotating cast", so I tend to make quality posts, with a LOT of depth and thought going into them. That being said, that amount of effort takes quite a bit of work, so it'd be awesome to have somebody else's mindset running the villains. It allows a GM to be VERY flexible in crafting his villains character sheets, and then seeing what somebody else does with them in their own creative fashion. It'd be much less work for TinyTim than running a game himself, but it'd also be much less work for myself roleplaying dialogues (or evil monologues, haha) with the PCs, considering we'd have double the normal amount of posters for the bad guys available.

If this sounds like a good idea to the OP, as well as the others, I'd be willing to get a game started up. Once I have a good idea as to what we're all looking for, it won't take me long to have quite a bit of detail up and running, but I want to first:

1. Make sure we'd all be interested in that sort of setup
2. Make sure we had at least 3-5 players who were REALLY interested in the long term of this game, and have an excellent track record on RPOL of "sticking with games"

Let me know, and let's facilitate some discussion back and forth on this. Hopefully we can come to an understanding, and get started.
