Wildcards

I'm looking for someone to run a game set in The universe of the Wildcards books...game system open for discussion, willing to learn if it's one I don't already know.

Re: Wildcards

I'd be willing to play in that world if there is a GM who is interested.  Wildcards is one of my favorite series, and I remember that GURPS came out with range of material under that system.

Re: Wildcards

I do know that on one of the games I co-gm, Couples Freeform(ADULT), there is an ad for a story writing partner specifically for the Wildcards world:

WWII - Aces and Jokers: Superheroes over Europe

The year is 1942. The Allies in Europe are losing the war.  The Russian's are effectively out of the conflict as the Eastern Front has fallen to the work of crack corps of Ubermenschen Soldat like the Maschinen Krieg and Stahl Adler.  France has surrendered, and only a thin strip of water and the valiant efforts of the British Air Corps and the Knights of the Realm, the handful of British, Scottish, and Irish Aces, hold fast against the might of the German Luftwaffe.  And in the Pacific Conflict, Admiral Yamamoto leads his fellow Aces from victory to victory throughout Asia.

Desperately, Aces and Jokers from the U.S. and Canada are rounded up.  Some volunteer, some are threatened, and some outright kidnapped in an effort to create a trained, combat ready battalion of super soldiers under project Overlord.

Character ideas: Non-powered US commando who's lost his entire squad to the Ubermenschen.  By din of his own survival, he's been given the job of training the raw recruits of project overload.  On the other side, an Ace or Joker, conscripted against their will to this fight.

This is more of a one to one writing collaboration than running a game based on a system, but yours is one of the few interests I've seen about that world on RPOL.

Re: Wildcards

I love gurps, but the system overhead is brutal.  Could be done with Savage Worlds.

I actually started rereading the series today

Re: Wildcards

SW has a pretty good set of super hero rules, without the overhead of GURPs.

SW can also be more realistic than, say, Champions.

Re: Wildcards

This is my favourite setting ever. I do have the GURPS book for it (but not the adventure they put out) -- I love GURPS but it's a bit too crunchy for online, especially with complex stuff like supers.

There's also a Mutants and Masterminds setting book for it, 2nd edition I think. I haven't run M&M before (and I'm a bit more familiar with 3rd ed but it's probably not hard to convert.) I'd prefer to run it in something lighter, like FATE or even Risus.
