Amber or LoG&S

I've been looking for a few months but don't see any Amber Diceless or the new Lords of Gossamer and Shadow games out there.  Anyone running one or thinking about it?  Would love to play an active game of either of those...

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I've got one running right now, nearing the end.  Will probably recruit for players for part 2 in a month or so.

On the other hand, I'd also love to play in one, so if someone else starts it they'll have at least the two of us.

In reply to jshaffstall (msg # 2):

Please keep me in mind if you recruit again, harder than I thought to find a LOG&S game online.  And the Amber games, which used to be numerous, have almost disappeared entirely.  Tis a shame.

I'd also like to be kept in mind for an Amber game if one crops up.

Lol, well we have enough players it seems; just a lack of GMs.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I thought about running a game a while back. In response to a similar post. But I have to admit, the themes and scale of the game are a bit overwhelming. I lack a penchant for politics in general and then there's the "anything you want" aspect. But the rules are so elegant...

Sigh. I may have to bite the bullet in the near future. I'm just a bit nervous about a PbP game. Especially not having experience at the table. My friends played it way back in the mid 90's. I laughed back then. "Dice-less," I said. "Hah, roll me some D20s."

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I'm with you, Sithraider.  I've wanted to get in on one of those games for a long time now, but I've always been a bit intimidated by them.  If I had something that eased me into the game a bit, I'd be willing to try out playing it myself.  It just always seems like everyone who plays it knows everything about it, and it's all a bit overwhelming.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

The great thing about LoG&S is that it's new.  Even the old Amber players are having to get used to the new powers and how the setting works.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

And the scale in LoG&S is a little less crazy than Amber's "the whole multiverse"...at least at the start that is.  Nor is there the baggage of a royal family and several eons of history...LOG&S offers a much more clean slate and the characters aren't quite demigods at the beginning.

Amber I always thought lent itself better to PBeM or PBP games b/c it allowed you to do a lot of the backstabbing and plotting in different threads and you could keep contributions and such posted online for everyone to see.  LoG&S I think could be that way too; but it tends  to more group play as far as I can tell.

But it does need dedicated players and a gm; not something people can just jump in and out of.

All I know is I bought the book, I really want to play it now. :)

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I know both my wife and I are huge fans of Amber Diceless and both of us would love to play. I used to run Amber games, but currently don't have the time. In a couple of years once my current games here on RPoL wind down, I might look at starting up an Amber game.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I suppose if the interest is there, I could run it.  I ran an Amber game here for almost 3 years once and I run it at conventions on occasion.  But I run traditional Amber Diceless. Let me know if you guys are still up for it.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

If you can come up with a decent plot for Amber game without dice, I would be happy to play in it, I have read the great book of Amber twice lol, I love that book

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I'd give it a whirl.  I love Roger Zelazny. I've read just about everything he's written.  I especially love his Amber stuff.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

Okay, I'll set up a game.  I have two options, so let me know the one you guys like best.

Option A -  Prodigal Sons

The game is set much earlier in Amber's history and the characters play some of the other 47 kids Oberon sired.  Of the character's from the book, only Benedict is around and he's a kid.  That means that Oberon is currently wed to Cymnea.  Osric and Finndo are around also.  War is brewing between Amber and a rogue member of the Golden Circle.  Normally this would not cause Amber that much worry, but this rogue nation-state is being led by a mysterious and as yet unknown figure who displays a military mind rivaling Amber's best generals.  Oberon has sent several of his kids off to find out who this leader is and where he is getting his support.

Option B -  Fields of Amber

The game is set during Corwin's saga during his attempt with Bleys to take Amber by force.  At least initially, not all the player characters will be on the side.  Some will fight with Eric's faction, while other march on Amber alongside Corwin and Bleys.

Re: Amber or LoG&S

I found a co-runner, so I think I'll go with Option 2, Fields of Amber

This game will involve large scale battles as well as individual intrigues.

I'll set up the game now.

Okay, it's set.  You can go to link to another game to join.  I'd do so fast though as Amber games fill quick.
