Legends of the Wulin

I'm pretty much brand new to Legends of the Wulin, coming into it as an experienced Exalted Player and Nobilis fan. I've been looking for the past week or so for a GM who could run/teach the combat intricacies of the system. I really like the feel of what I've managed to piece together out of it so far, though.

That said, I am interested in finding a GM willing to pick up my new Wulin character. Xiang Mirai is a young merchant's daughter inducted into the Resplendent Phoenix Society, and I had intended for her to ideally not need to worry terribly much about familial matters for the purposes of her adventures, at least initially. Idea for me is that she'd be fairly active in the field of either recruiting or at the least stepping in and protecting girls in bad situations. She's built on a Courtier, so some social system practice would be helpful too.

I've got another friend who may or may not be interested in joining, who currently has a Beggar Fraternity ex-noble Scholar who is seeking revenge on the assassin who killed her family.

In terms of content, I'm fine with both Mature or Adult games.

Re: Legends of the Wulin

If this got going and had space, I'd also be very interested in playing a new-player friendly wulin game (coming from a pretty similar background and having played with Flarelord before, though he doesn't know I'm about to post this ^^ )

I grabbed the Wulin book on drivethru rpg ages ago now with the intention to run a game, but was never able to get my head around it just from reading it.

I'm the player with the beggar. I haven't nailed down a name yet, but I'm also very interested.

Re: Legends of the Wulin

I'd really like to try this system as well, but the GM would have to be willing to work with someone without access to the rulebook because I'm a starving artist. And "artist" is debatable in this case.

If not, then... well, just ignore me.

Re: Legends of the Wulin

Hey y'all. As a huge fan of LotW, it always warms my heart to see more people interested in it. I'm not sure I can handle running a new campaign right now (I'm currently playing in one [here] and running one [on another site]), but I think I could handle doing something on a limited basis to help folks learn/get comfortable with the system: walk you through character generation, run a few combats, maybe interspersed with a couple of scenes to let you start to get the hang of the secret arts. If, at the end, we're all inspired to continue and to grow into a full campaign, great! And if not (and, fair warning, more than likely it'll be 'not'), well, maybe one of you will feel emboldened to try running a game yourself.

Of course, if someone else comes along willing to run a full campaign, fantastic--totally do that instead. And I know some folks who do, on occasion, run LotW (though mostly elsewhere); I'll point their attentions to this thread. But if those things don't come to pass, I'd hate to see you guys not have the chance to give it a try.

The only thing is that having access to the game is an absolute must. I hate to say that, since it's awfully expensive for a pdf, but I just don't think I'd be able to walk someone through the system if they don't have it.

Lemme know if this is something some or all of you would be interested in.

ETA: The absolute max # of players I could handle would be 5. JFTR.

Re: Legends of the Wulin

I would be interested. I just got the system, it looks very flavorful, but the mechanics are still a bit muddled for me. I could use a walkthrough game.

Re: Legends of the Wulin

Awesome. Well, let's do it, then.

I don't have a ton of experience running games on rpol so I'm not sure of the exact protocol for these things, but the game name is Lost Among Rivers & Lakes; I believe you guys go to the game page and send RTJs?

I'll give those who've already expressed interest dibs: Flarelord, DocAquatic, pyrosorc, and DJ-Anarchy. If another player (or players, if for some reason one or more of those four don't join) wants in, just give a shout in this thread, via RTJ, or in rMail.

Re: Legends of the Wulin

I noticed that game is already closed to interest; if anyone else starts something up, I'd like to hear more about it.
