Star Wars Age of Rebellion Y-Wings?

I picked up the Age of Rebellion book, and one of the suggested scenarios is a Y-Wing squadron. I've wanted to play a starfighter squadron Star Wars game for a long time now, and Y-Wings are my favorites (poor, under-utilized Y-Wings).

Anybody out there considering running such a game?

Ideal post rate would be somewhere between once a day and 5 times a week. Some days I can't make a post, but I'm not generally too busy right now. I don't care about the game rating either way.

I also think this would be tons of fun. I'm only concerned that such a game would have a large focus on combat, something that tends to struggle in this platform. With a lot of back and forth in Star Wars, like checking range for difficulty, situational modifiers, what the other pilots are doing and how that might affect your actions, and other such, fights could bring the game to a crawl.

Now, there are things that could be done, like single-roll resolution, but I'm not sure if this would catch the feel if it was used for every fight. So it could be done.

Yeah, I imagine the GM would have to be very proactive about providing range and modifiers and keeping them updated.

One option would be using a volunteer player (or two) as number crunchers, who do the counting as the GM dictates. And yes, I'd be interested as well. Of course, it could be a mixed squadron of Z-95 Headhunters and Y-Wings, maybe even a couple of ARC-170ies in the beginning. And I'd see it beginning around Force Unleashed -era, a while before the Battle of Yavin.

You were thinking of a Star Wars D20 Revised or Saga edition or...?

No, the new one, Edge of the Empire/Age of Rebellion by Fantasy Flight Games. The Age of Rebellion book has specific rules for playing Alliance characters, but both books are essentially the same system.

Having a player or two help out or keep a master-post updated seems like a great idea.

Had it been the D20, I could have possibly started a game for you. Don't own Edge of the Empire nor am I likely to get it just now, so...

I'm hankering to try a squadron-based game myself. My post rate would likely be every other day...

I have access to the revised d20. I would be open to Edge/Age but don't have access to either.

Re: Star Wars Age of Rebellion Y-Wings?

I have Edge of the Empire, it seems pretty cool. Still familiarizing myself with it.

It is a cool concept though, focusing on the bomber jocks who are the real workhorses in the fleet and don't get too much thanks. Browning their trousers when fighters drop in and committing to attack runs on targets that if they donn't get hit, the war won't be won.

Could play off the Mighty Eighth/Dambusters vibe as well, even Catch 22 would be useful for this to get the mindset right!

Find someone to run it in Saga and I'm down. No interest in learning a new system, though.

Well, any GMs out there, seems there's a ton of interest in a Saga edition version.

I'm not at all interested in any of the various d20 versions, myself.

I'm much more interested in the new rules than any of the d20 stuff as well. I run an EotE/AoR game, but it isn't fighter based.  The system is a blast.

I'd like to play in an EotE/AoR game. The system looks fun. I have the EotE book but my local group has yet to adopt the game.

In reply to Orioncrush (msg # 16):

I would also be down to play in an Edge of the Empire game. It's an awesome system and this concept is really cool.
