Sailormoon anyone?

With the new series underway, I was wondering if there was any interest in a Sailormoon game. I was going to get into a live game over on Roll20, but work conflicts may have killed that for me indefinitely. I wanted to see if there was some interest and a GM here.

As for rules, there is of course the Sailor Moon game, based on an older version of BESM. It's fine, but I find that it makes a number of rather... limiting assumptions about the property that don't really line up with later seasons or the manga. Also, the rules are almost 15 years old. BESM 2nd or 3rd look like they might add a lot more control and freedom, if not a little complexity. But there are certainly other options available that might be a better fit, since I'm unsure how BESM handles online or compared to other games on the market since I didn't really get into 3rd.

Personally, I'd like to play closer to the manga and the new series, as the manga contains a greater amount of background detail about senshi origins, duties, and less monster of the week. I can certainly reconcile this with the original anime series, since most of it is background material, but there are some significant differences that can't really be explored in the original roleplaying game, due to its tight adherence to the dub.

Thoughts? Offers? Other interest?

I don't know about the manga, but I do own the Sailor Moon BESM gamebook in my collection, so I'd like to see a game that uses that if it happens...

I am interested in this I do hope that a GM steps forward. Are the Inner Senshi still teens or are there 20 somethings? Both the player (and the perspective) would have to answer that question and more.

Re: Sailormoon anyone?

With media property games like this, I always prefer unique characters who operate at arms length from the canonical characters. Aside from the fact that I don't think I could portray one of the canon characters, they've been through a lot. It's probably time for someone else ot save the world.

BESM whichever version you intend to use? So long as a wiki exists with enough info to play. I am game. It will not be the first, and will probably not be the last, time I learn a new rule set to play a game.

I agree with Scooter, side characters, stories that do not involve the main characters to the show. For example, maybe a different gen of scouts?

Re: Sailormoon anyone?

I'd be up for a senshi game.  My only hesitation about the BESM system is that it doesn't seem to really be balanced from an offensive to defensive ratio in my experience.  It's often quite easy to do ridiculous amounts of damage even against a person who tries to specialize in defense.  It's not a deal-breaker for me, but I'm just nervous about it.

I like the idea of using unique characters.  It's more fun to explore interesting possibilities in the universe than rehash a story that's been done likely repeatedly on forums just like this for the last twenty years.  ^_^
