Dungeon World

Pretty self explanatory. I'd like to play in a Dungeon World game. I especially like the aspect where you sort of create the setting as you go along. However, I'd rather not game in the standard vanilla type setting. I'd much prefer something a little darker, like Dragon Age, or something more exotic, rather than the standard Western European style setting in most fantasy games.

Re: Dungeon World

I'd be down to run a DW game in this vein. How fantastical are you looking for the game to be? Magical beasts and otherworldly creatures and such, or a gritty human-only world?

In reply to orbis_tertius (msg # 3):

I'm fine with fantastical, and doesn't have to be human only.

Re: Dungeon World

Edit: Actually, never mind, I'd like to possibly run this myself some day.  I'd like to see what others come up with.

Re: Dungeon World

Alright, let's do it.

I was originally going to ask for more details on exactly what sort of game everyone wants, but I think we've got some good general guidelines here: darker in the vein of Dragon Age, a minimum of overused Western fantasy tropes, maybe something a little more "exotic."

I'd add that I've been reading a lot of Robert E. Howard lately, and his approach to his Conan and Kull stories (minus his 1920s racism) seems like a good stew for a Dungeon World game, which (in my experience) tend to run kind of action-packed and pulpy in a very Howard way already.

When we start creating characters together and people start contributing background details about their characters and coming up with bonds, I think we'll probably come to a good medium.

Still, if anyone's got anything on their minds regarding the feel they'd like to see in the game, or any ideas, general or specific, might as well put them here.

Re: Dungeon World

Ah, yes! Something in the style of Conan would certainly be great. I just don't like the run-of-the-mill Middle-Earth style fantasy world.

Re: Dungeon World

I'm only vaguely familiar with the Conan setting, but I've been meaning to check it out for a long time.  So let's do it!

Edit: I've read The Eye of Argon, if that helps. ;)

Re: Dungeon World

I have a DW campaign in need of players. However, I can't say the name of it bc of forum rules.

Re: Dungeon World

I've created a game that hopefully works with what everyone here has expressed interest in: link to another game
