Pathfinder- Privateer Captain seeks a crew and a GM.

I am looking to play a Privateer, swashbuckling style of game.  Where the fighters don't wear armor because while impractical at sea its just not stylish.

Flare and Fanfare, not Musty and Mundane.

Homebrew or established setting, it makes no difference.  I just want to play the Captain, and maybe a few NPC corhorts from the leadership feat if needed.

Interested?

I have a girl Magus/Bladebound/Kensai that works perfectly in such a setting. I'd be willing to contribute Leadership for crew as well. Love the idea!

I might be up for this if the GM would be willing to allow more unusual races.  I've got a concept for an Undine pirate girl that I'm trying to find a home for at the moment.

If there's a GM out there willing to run this, I'd love to see it get off the ground.  It looks like we're certainly not short on prospective players.

Did you ever find someone to run this?

If not, any other details you can give me on what would interest you would be helpful.

Re: Pathfinder- Privateer Captain seeks a crew and a GM.

If you are looking for story ideas, I have come up with a few tag lines:

Captain Ayman Abdur Rashid Besmara, Corsair and seeker of the Key of Sehzade Korkut.

A very Barbary coast style take on the pirate concept, Ayman has found out about The Key of Sehzade Korkut, now he wants to find it.  It is said that Korkut used the magic in the Key to seal his treasure away from the world, sending his castle to the in between, a place between our world and the next.

Captain Hapaloch and the tale of tails.

Captain Piripi Hapaloch,is always stead fast.  Well known for his sea-legs, Hapaloch is an Islander turned ship captain after he and his men wrestled a ship away from some pirates.  They slayed every last pirate on the ship, some say they even ate them to remove all remains of their spirits.  Why I even heard that Hapaloch ain't even a man, but something far worse.  Worse or not, he keeps the seas that he travels safe from pirates, and he protects his people without a doubt.  He sails the seas looking to always protect the tangata whenua (people of the Island), and find more trinkets of knowledge.

In reality Captain Piripi Hapaloch, is a rogue/sorcerer Cecaelia who hides his octopus legs from the general public with magic, and while at sea swears his men to secrecy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Captain Lucha and the fools quest

Captain Pablo Piatza De Lucha, is no captain at all but a spoiled merchant noble's son who has hired a ships crew and bought a fast boat.  His family needs to send him away due to politics that are becoming deadly in his home city.  Sent on a quest to find a treasure from a map that his father "gave" him, Pablo has been set up as a way to get him to leave for his own protection.  With his bodyguard and friend Ecaz always by his side, Paco seeks to find the treasure, while his father hopes that he grows into a man.

In reply to Azraile (msg # 11):

Telling people 'duh' isn't a wonderful way to make friends. And he said the ruleset right in the title of the thread. 'Pathfinder.' Saying 'duh' when you're the one who's out of the loop reflects extra poorly on you.

Now, as far as the game goes, I like pirate games. And I like Pathfinder. I could maybe cobble together something for this. I'll just have to check how much time I have.

That being said, the dealbreaker for me on this one is the idea of a PC being the Captain. I'm all about swashing buckles. But when one PC is in charge of the others, unless it's a tight group, you always have trouble.

Are you stuck on being THE CAPTAIN?

Re: Pathfinder- Privateer Captain seeks a crew and a GM.

Unless someone is out the captain it shouldn't be a problem.  I am an experienced enough of a role player to understand that every character has a role.  It cant be expected that the captain does everything.  Heck, even the PCs should have a large stake of shares as they are not average sailors.

In reply to Grimjack (msg # 13):

It's not that the Captain can or can't do everything, it's the authority issue. With very (very) rare exception, it causes problems. (almost) No one likes being told what to do by another player.

Re: Pathfinder- Privateer Captain seeks a crew and a GM.

Most pirate ships where largely democratic, surprisingly, due to the nature of the shares that each sailor had.  Sure that Captain has the most shares, but he could be overruled by a majority share holder vote.  The lower sailors (NPCs) did not have the voting power to over rule the Captain, but the 1st mate, look-out, navigator, accountant, medical officer, etc. all had larger stakes and could easily call for the captain's removal.  Its a delicate balance.

Sign me in for Captain Hapaloch and the tale of tails!
I love pirate hunting!

Hopefully, our future DM can accept 3.5 material?. The class I would like to use is not adapted to Pathfinder.

Re: Pathfinder- Privateer Captain seeks a crew and a GM.

I've decided to host a pirate crew in my game, The Colonies, where there is plenty of adventure to be had and not too much authority.

7th level Pathfinder gestalt in a homebrew setting.

This is a Mature game.
