Re: DND Looking for and Gonzo/Anti-classic game (4e/3.5 or PF)
Instead of restricting what people can play, why not just open it wide to as many concepts as possible, and encourage people to go for the weird. Even within the Wizard class, for instance, you have plenty of room for zany, over the top characters.
A game like this has potential to be fun, but it also has a very good chance of devolving into a gimmick game, where everyone is just slapstick characters. Don't get me wrong, slapstick is fun. Love some Marx Brothers, but you gotta admit that it gets old after a while (try watching all the Marx Brothers films in a marathon setting, and you'll see what I mean). If there isn't more to the game than "hey, we got zany characters", and the players aren't invested in the characters beyond "hey, this is some weird stuff I haven't gotten to play before", then you may well find the game dying before it really gets off the ground.
