GURPS Fallout
Hey all. I love the Fallout setting, and I enjoy how much customization GURPS offers (I have 4 but I hear 3 is not too difficult to translate), though I'm not terribly familiar with running combat. Here are some highlights of a game I'd love to play in. I don't look on this forum often, so rMail is a good way to contact me if you're interested in running this game. Here is my wishlist, though there's plenty of wiggle room if you want to tinker with some aspects.
Number of Players: It could be anything from solo to about 4...I find 5 or more tends to make it hard for everyone to contribute.
Factions: It would be nice for the players as a group to pick a few factions that we enjoy (Enclave, Brotherhood, etc) and be able to have something of a history with them. Unlike many of the Fallout games, we could even be from a faction, such as the players being Followers of the Apocalypse, or an officer with the NCR. I feel this opens up many storytelling opportunities.
Goals: While the traditional Fallout game is pretty open-ended, I feel it would be good if the players could work together before we start the game to build an idea of what we as a party are interested in accomplishing, and our general ideology. Not all factions and player types are compatible; a die-hard NCR supporter would probably not be able to adventure with a slaver indefinitely without it coming to violence. If players have directly oppositional goals, it just seems unrealistic for them to spend any more time together than they absolutely have to.
Tougher: While Fallout 3 and New Vegas are fun, I think a setting closer to the first and second games would be more interesting. They were a little less silly, a little more lethal, and the combination brought the setting more to a true "wasteland."
