GM Wanted for Robotech 2E Game!

Hello all,

Once again, I am in the market for a GM to helm a Robotech Second Edition game here on RPoL. Since it has been a few months since my last Robotech game ended, I took some time to figure out what I specifically want in terms of a campaign. I decided to list these things here so as to avoid wasting everybody's time running around and around on certain issues. Be warned, this is a long list and quite wordy, but I've always wanted to be completely transparent with potential GMs.

Number of Players
I am totally fine with a solo game, but I would LOVE to have other players to work with/off of. Rather than a full Squadron/Company, I would like something more akin to a Fireteam (4-5 Players/NPCs). I feel this is an optimal number for deeply personal stories in the setting and gives everyone a chance to develop their characters at a good pace, not to mention it's a heck of a lot more manageable in terms of posting!

As an addendum to this, I'd really like to play in a fresh game, as opposed to "filling out the roster" in an established game.

Era & Campaign Style
The Macross Saga is one that I'm currently having a Love/Hate relationship with. While it's my favorite Era of the show, it's also the one that my RL group has done to absolute, freaking death and I really don't have fun playing in it anymore. IF I were to play in a Macross Era game, I'd like a shot at playing a SF-3A Lancer pilot stationed on one of the ARMD-class Carriers or extraterrestrial base (such as Luna, an orbital shipyard, etc). As I typed that, I also thought it'd be neat to RP as a crew member of an ARMD-class or Oberth-class. I have absolutely no desire to play a Veritech Pilot or Destroid Operator since I've been there, done that. Civilian OCCs don't have any draw for me in this Era either.

The Masters Saga is something I've grown quite fond of recently, as I've been doing some world-building exercises during my Downtime and it is high on my Wishlist. In this Era, I'd really like an opportunity to explore the Tactical Corps OCC - specifically Cold, Forest, Navy, or Recon Division MOS. Other OCC/MOS packages would be considered, but I'd generally prefer to stay away from Veritechs in this Era.

The Third Robotech War/Shadow Chronicles block is also highly preferred, although I'd like to stay away from Earth on this one. I'm thinking something along the lines of either starting the Pioneer Mission and playing through their conflicts with the Robotech Masters, the Invid Regent, and General T.R. Edwards OR exploring the galaxy as a member of the Explorer Corps trying to find new worlds, liberate them from the Masters/Invid, or search for the SDF-3 Pioneer (post-Third War). Of all the OCCs presented, none of them are necessarily unwanted, though if I had to play as a Veritech Pilot, I'd vastly prefer to be seated in a Beta Fighter rather than an Alpha. This is an aesthetic choice since I find Alphas ugly as sin except for the VF/A-6Z "Red Alpha". If we build a squad of Enlisted Infantry, I'd like a shot at piloting a Silverback over a Cyclone. Again, aesthetic choice, but I can work with a Cyclone if a Silverback is unavailable.

Canonicity
Here's where a lot of people on the Palladium Forums seem to get mad to the point that I feel this is nearly as important as anything else to mention. I am looking for a Robotech game, not Macross or MOSPEADA or whatever else. I do not care what the Japanese series or OVAs say or do. It is in no way relevant to what I want. I am only concerned with playing Robotech as established by the Western license, which includes the material presented on the "Robotech" show and the Role-Playing game. I will also lump in the novels written by Jack McKinney, though their canonicity seems to have been revoked. Within those bounds, anything goes. I'm all for stretching the boundaries of the canonicity, so long as it still feels like Robotech and not its progenitors.

Posting Rate
I generally work long nights during the week (Monday-Thursday) with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. During my work week, I make it a point to check RPoL once I get off work and a couple of times after that before I go to bed. On the weekends, I am available at nearly any time. With this in mind, I am okay with slow posting rates and can somewhat manage fast rates.

With all of this being said, I know somebody is sitting behind their monitor and saying, "This dude is one bullheaded, hard-nosed monkey lover." Which is a totally fair assessment, but I've been through the Robotech wringer enough times to know what I do/don't want and it's not fair to me or the other players/GMs to have me join a game that my heart's not in. While I've mentioned several things I don't want or am not interested in, I'm open to being convinced otherwise (except in the case of Macross Veritech/Destroid Pilots and the Macross/MOSPEADA/Robotech deal). If this sounds like a challenge you'd like to helm, send me an rMail and we'll try to get this paper airplane into orbit.
