Mage: The Awakening

Lookin' for a Mage game so I can learn these rules I just bought.

I really like this book and I'm determined to put it all together some day, but it's a little arcane (heh-heh) so I could use a little guidance if anyone is willing.

Anyway, I hope this doesn't turn anyone off, but all I care about really is learning the rules. If this happens to turn into a fun roleplaying venture, I will put my heart and soul into it, but otherwise, simply learning the rules would be just fine.

Re: Mage: The Awakening

I would be down to be a player, I have somewhat grasp on the rules but not entirely super familiar with them.

Re: Mage: The Awakening

I'd be into playing as well. I know the rules fairly well, but I'm not interested in running a Mage game at the moment.

Re: Mage: The Awakening

Only know cWoD not nWoD.... sorry

But if you know old mage I have a window for new chars to join my game.

Like I said though, it's ascension not awakening, and it's mature.... and I need a good background for seekings to draw from.

Seekings are hard even with decent background, the one person that barely gave me one I had one heck of a hard time with one and it turned out quite baddly.

Re: Mage: The Awakening

I'd offer to run it, but I just finished a 6 month stint running Noir Mage at the table top. Maybe if there were a few GMs who wanted to run monthly mage-episodes (magisodes?), so we can rotate playing and running, I would consider it.

Re: Mage: The Awakening

I have the same problem than Azraile up there, I utterly despise the new system so I refuse to DM it. i'd happily play though?

Re: Mage: The Awakening

I don't uterly despise it... there some things I like about it.... not ever humanoid having the same health levels, stanima giving health levels.

other little stuff.... but I never read over it enugh to incorporate anything from it.

I do hate the setting, they some how oversimplify and over complicated things at the same time.... WTF  o.O

from like 20 clans to like 5... .but with like 20 bloodlines each... O.o

about 40 diffrent kinds of shifters or so... all so many ways you can play a shifter.....  down to like 7.... O.o    an they whent from good guys to bad guys....

everyones a bad guy now ... .wtf?

world sucks yah... but there are 'good guys' out there

over simplifying sphere ans requiring you to have rotes no casting what ever you whant?   oh hell no....  I will mix an mach my spheres to do what ever I whant thank you very much..... go play a wizard if you want set spells lol

Azraile:

Clans are based on archetypes in nWoD, the bestial vampire, the  seductive, the shadowy, etc. Bloodlines are refinments of each clan. On most games Covenants matter more when it comes to politics.

Azraile:

They are not bad guys, they are simply not as white/black as they used to be, much more appropriate to a setting like WoD.

Azraile:
everyones a bad guy now ... .wtf?

See above.

Azraile:

There are many stated NPCs with Morality of 7 or more, those can be defined as good guys.

You are not required to have a rote to cast what you want, Arcana is enough like in cWoD (it's a Gnosos + Main Arcana roll). Rotes give you a lot of advantages, usually higher dice pools, reduced Paradox pool, not having to spend Mana casting spells with a Common/Inferior Arcana as the Main Arcana of your spell.

Re: Mage: The Awakening

I'd love a chance to play Mage: the Awakening. I think it's a wonderful setting with the best expansions of any World of Darkness line, past or present; with a handful of exceptions almost every book has been evocative and amazing.
