Seeking freeform game for my chaotic good necromancer
I'm seeking a quality roleplaying game for a well established/developed character of mine. Medieval fantasy is prefered (although I could easily be talked into giving steampunk fantasy a try), with a mature or adult rating. I'm looking for comradery, adventure, an engaging plot and some romance. I love banter between characters, pub scenes, and the chance to laugh but under the lightheartedness should lurk a serious and atmospheric story. I've had great success with this character in a solo game (sadly gone inactive) so would like to see if I can get lucky again but would also be happy to find a small group too.
Of course while having such requirements is all well and good, it's proven difficult to find a home for my character because he's, umm... well, he's a chaotic good necromancer and adventurer. Not exactly a so-called 'white' necromancer since he does control the forces of the undead, but he does so from a completely different point of view. He sort of represents the power of Life over Unlife and is a would-be hero in many regards. He has a particular gift/power and he uses it to the best effect he can. He's also a genuinely nice guy, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, hopelessly optimistic, a romantic at heart, fun-loving, healthy, and very personable. He's down to earth and has amazingly straight priorities. (He certainly has his fair share of flaws as well, but I'm trying to sell him here! ;)) He loves his life and tries to lead the best one he can, even if he does admit that some bits could have gone better. And that being run out of town on the end of a pitchfork as soon as anybody finds out he's a necromancer sometimes gets a bit old.
I'm requesting a free-form game for him because that's where my roleplaying roots are and also because I really hate trying to make character sheets for him. I have a very good grasp of my character's attributes, abilities, flaws, and limitations but he simply doesn't fit into any of the pre-existing boxes so finding a system for him is hard. That said, I'm not totally adverse to trying a system but I do find it can be difficult (especially when those systems often force an evil alignment on anybody who happens to raise the dead.)
As a player, I am very dedicated and dependable. Not all games work out for various reasons, but once I do find one that I'm happy with, I will stick around for years and can maintain a good posting rate the whole time.
Thank you for reading. :)
