Wow, no one has heard of it? I would have thought rpol would be all over this great game. Well, here is some info to whet your appetites, and hopefully will result in some ppl here purchasing the game so we can get a group together and start playing :hopefull:
This game is medieval Call of Cthulhu meets Raveloft. The setting of the game is basically Celtic, Gothic Britain set in a fantasy world (so not real medival Britain on Earth) The system is rules light, and designed to work seamlessly in the background and not get in the way, yet handle stuff like combat elegantly and without any problems. The dice used are d10's. The english version was just recently released, the original game was released in France in French in 2010.
Combat is brutal, and while characters grow in skill and can come to master their particular craft, no character can become a killing machine that can slaughter a battalion or heck, even a group of enemies by himself. To highlight this, consider that in Shadows of Esteren a character's hitpoints remain the same throughout his career, no matter how skilled or powerful he/she becomes.
The artwork in the game is gorgeous. You can check out the previews yourself on the internet, and work has already commenced on translating supplements. You can purchase the book in hardcopy or pdf from studio2publishing.com
