Apprentice seeking Magician/Sorcerer

I am looking for a solo game where I can play a character I am developing. Basic premise is an Urban Fantasy setting, my character has no prior knowledge of magic but an event occurs in which he displays an affinity for the supernatural and magical. He attracts the attention of the local magicing body, and is apprenticed to magician/wizard/sorcerer and schooled in the mystical arts. A detailed study of magic and character development. I am also quite fond of having multiple teachers from different magical traditions/disciplines from around the world.

Influences: The Dresden Files, Alex Verus novels, Buffy and Angel.

I do not want anything like Harry Potter.

Thank you for your time.

Re: Apprentice seeking Magician/Sorcerer

You should have include Skullduggery Pleasant as influence because its almost 100% what you have described. Any system preference?

Re: Apprentice seeking Magician/Sorcerer

Oh? What's Skullduggery? Freeform would have to be the way... unless the system is REALLY easy and I do not have to make stats. This is an exercise in writing and character development (hopefully with some fun) with magic and mystery, rather than a virtual table-top game.

No problem, is it alright if I have a sample of your writing first? I'll post some of mine too. Do you have a plan/idea for plot already?

Re: Apprentice seeking Magician/Sorcerer

I think the technical term is:

BUMP

rMail me for more information if you are interested.

As before I am still looking for a game where I can have my character schooled in the arts of magic, apprenticed to a Wizard/Magician/Sorcerer in an Urban fantasy setting. A focus on learning magic/building a well rounded character, however an overarching plot with a few twists and turns and an adversary or two would also go down a treat.

Thank you for your time.
